Premier League Matchweek 28 Predictions

The giants return to the Premier League for the 28th matchweek, one which could see movement near the top of the table and a relegation shake-up.

Top Match Winner: Chelsea to Win (-200)

Chelsea vs. Burnley Predictions

The Blues allowed their form to drop over the past few weeks but rounded back into their world-class form last weekend, playing one of the most thrilling games of football of the calendar year in a FA Cup Final loss to Liverpool.

Chelsea has their usually solid defense and is back to getting production from the attackers, even if the in-form trio of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech is not the one that fans would have predicted after they signed Romelu Lukaku for nearly £100 million this summer.

Burnley, meanwhile, has recorded decent performances as of late but does not have the squad to compete at a consistently high enough level and should return to Earth this weekend.

Top Asian Handicap: West Ham +1.5 (+105)

West Ham vs. Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool has been playing tremendously well in recent months, clawing back into the title race after Manchester City had established a seemingly insurmountable lead and now trailing by only six points and with a game in hand.

They just defeated Chelsea in the FA Cup Final last weekend and have what manager Jurgen Klopp described as his “best squad ever.”

Their opponent in West Ham is no pushover, though, and a +1.5 handicap is harsh, to say the least. The Hammers took eight of a possible 12 points from Premier League action in February and beat Liverpool 3-2 at home earlier in the campaign, giving them the confidence to bring the fight to the favorites.

Top Over/Under: Aston Villa / Southampton Over 2.5 Goals (-112)

Aston Villa and Southampton are nearly identical in total goals this season: both teams have conceded 37 goals, while Southampton has scored 34 to Aston Villa’s 33.

This should make for an evenly-balanced game in which both teams are attacking with intent rather than sitting back and waiting to counter-attack.

This game is a total shot in the dark as far as who is going to actually win as they match up very well against one another, which should create an open, end-to-end affair with lots of goals and excitement.

Parlay: Leicester City (-122) / Wolverhampton (+150)

Leicester City has an advantage in its upcoming match because of the recent news at Leeds, which is that manager Marcelo Bielsa is out.

Bielsa completely reconstructed Leeds’ identity, and his absence should be apparent in the team’s performance on the pitch as they adapt to a new system. Leicester also has the better players, which does not hurt.

Wolverhampton has quietly been one of the stingiest teams in the league in terms of goals allowed, ranking fourth-best in this category.

They are also still in with a chance at Champions League qualification, currently occupying the eighth position with a game in hand on the league leaders, and will be playing every game with the highest intensity and focus.
