The Gambler's Report 8/15/2018

The weeks continue to fly by as we rapidly approach the beginning of one of the favorite times of year for gamblers. I'm talking about the start of football.  We are 11 days away from a small slate of games kicking off on the 25th of August. In the meantime, there is plenty happening around the sports world to keep punters of all levels busy. Let's dive right in and take a quick look around the industry in this week's Gambler's Report.

NFL Preseason Injuries

The NFL Preseason concluded week 1 and already we are reminded why players often hate these games and continue to push for a reduced preseason slate. The Redskins lost promising rookie running back Derrius Guice for the season to a torn ACL suffered in their preseason loss to the Patriots 26-17.  The LSU product was supposed to be a major contributor to the Redskins offense and his injury will cause some major shuffling of the RB depth chart.

The Arizona Cardinals also lost their starting center A.Q. Shipley to a torn ACL in practice last week. While centers do not get the spotlight that tackles do they are really the anchor for the offensive line. This will be a tough replacement for the Cardinals.

US Gambling Wave

A Kentucky legislator said there is a good chance they pass something early next year allowing legal sports betting in the state. The Louisville Democrat stated that while it won't fix all of Kentucky's financial woes it's a good way to get some cash flow coming in.

New York, on the other hand, is still dragging their feet and it appears we finally have a reason. Governor Cuomo is holding as until after the November election to act on sports betting. In a typical politician move his focus is currently on campaigning.

Beer, Wings, Sports Wagers

Large chain sports bar Buffalo Wild Wings has been looking into taking advantage of the spread of legal sports gambling in its restaurants. A Buffalo Wild Wings Spokesman said to ESPN, "As the largest sports bar in America, we believe Buffalo Wild Wings is uniquely positioned to leverage sports gaming to enhance the experience for our guests". Sure, I'll take 10 wings hot, a tall Miller Lite, and the Dolphins +7 vs the Pats. Fun idea and will be curious to see if they are actually able to pull it off.

Offshore Report

All generally looks pretty good on the payout reports I'm seeing. One issue I did notice involves BetOnline and a delayed payout. Looks like they may be having an issue with one of the processors as seeing a few chiming in of missing payouts and BetOnline requesting bank statements and such. It appears to be an issue with one of BetOnline's processors dropping. I imagine the players will be paid but it is still a frustrating process to wait out.

Rollover | Knowing and Understanding How Rollover is Tied to Bonus Money

Big time of year for sportsbooks as they are fighting for the deposits many will make for football season. Lots of bonuses and contest to be had from various books both big and small. If you are going to be playing the ballgames anyway might as well get as much bang for your buck as you can. Be sure you are fully aware of any terms and conditions resulting from taking bonuses. It's never any fun to contact chat looking for payout only to be told you have a lot of rollover left to complete.
