Three Ways to Bet Monday Night Football Totals Tonight

We have the Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. I’m excited for this game.

I keep wondering if the Bears are actually pretenders or not. Everyone keeps pointing their finger at them, but they’ve only lost one game.

This week, they have the Rams; next week is the Saints; the week after that is the Titans. It feels like a cop-out, but I guess we’ll know by Week 9 if the Bears are legit.

We’re looking at betting on the totals here, which are always fun, but stressful bets. When we look at both of these teams, scoring is pretty inconsistent. We have a Rams team that dropped 32 in a loss on the road against the Bills but only put up 17 in a home win against the Giants.

This Bears team is a little more consistent with scoring, sitting around 21.3 points per game. With a new quarterback at the helm, we don’t know where the ceiling sits.

I think this one comes down to defense. Both teams allow an average of 19 points per game, but they’re up against very effective offenses this week.

First Half Total: Bet on Under 21.5 Points (-120)

The first half bet is a tough one. I don’t think either offense cracks the defenses within this first half. One or two scores, but if the flood gates open in this game (which I don’t think they will), it doesn’t happen until the second half.

I see long drives that soak up the clock with a score or two, resulting in a 13-7 halftime score, or maybe 10-7. I’m taking the under at 21.5 points at -120.

Game Total: Bet on Under 45 Points (-110)

I think this is the best total bet to make this game. These are good defenses. As long as Aaron Donald comes out and lets last week’s frustration against the 49ers fuel him, the Bears won’t score much.

The worry is if the Rams just take control. Jared Goff and Cooper Kupp, when they can get going, they can be a great combo. Those guys are tough to deal with.

Running back Darrell Henderson Jr. adds a lot of flexibility to their offense, especially in the red zone, and the Rams offense is a force. I think the Rams are a great team, and a slip up against the 49ers lets their record down a little bit.

I don’t think the Bears put a lot of points on the board and even if the Rams do, I think they’ll easily stay under 45. Take the under of 45.0 with -110 odds.

Team Totals: Bet Bears Under 20.5 (-135)

This bet might be a little bit of a stretch, but it’s based entirely on my belief that this is the week the Bears get smoked. I see them struggling to handle the Rams, as Los Angeles comes back from a tough loss against the 49ers and regains its momentum in style.

The Bears under 20.5 points at -135 is an easy bet to take, in my opinion. They’ll get a few scores, but they just don’t have the pieces to take down the Rams defense significantly.

I’d love to see David Montgomery find himself in the end zone a little more, but I don’t see it happening much against the Rams’ run defense. I don’t think the Nick Foles to Allen Robinson II connection clicks enough either.

I struggle with the Rams’ total bet and would advise staying away simply because their offense is pretty volatile. At over/under 26.5 points, I could see both happening.

I mean, they put up 32 against the Bills and 17 against the Giants. I see it as a coin flip, which is why, if you have to bet, you should take the over of 26.5 at -110. Scoring 32 against the Bills, 37 against the Eagles, and 30 against the Washington Football Team means they have it in them.

What is the Over/Under or Total: A Total bet is also known as the Over/Under. The two are the same. When wagering on Totals, a bettor chooses whether the combined score of both teams will be over or under a sportsbook’s listed number (the total). Learn to Bet on totals.
