A Sunday without NFL football, what are we going to do?
Good thing for bettors across the land, there is plenty of action to be found on the hardwood. Today we are looking at the Washington Wizards, as they will host the Memphis Grizzlies this Sunday night.
The Wizards are currently trying to climb back into the Eastern Conferences 8 seed, while the Grizzlies continue to try and hold off the Portland Trailblazers for the Western Conference's final playoff spot.
Game: Memphis Grizzlies (26-26, 28-23-1 ATS) at Washington Wizards (18-32, 25-24-1 ATS)
When: 6:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 9, 2020
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, DC
Currently Line: Memphis -2 Total: 241.5
TV Coverage: FS Southwest, NBCS Washington
Washington enters this contest fresh off a huge upset of the Dallas Mavericks, although they were without all-world point guard Luka Doncic.
Bradley Beal continued his post-All-Star snub tear by scoring 29 points, including a game-winning, last-second layup with .2 seconds left. The guard has scored at least 30 points in 7 of his last 9 outings.
Washington is 12-12 at home this season and will continue to try and climb into the East's 8 seed. They currently trail the Orlando Magic by just 2.5 games as the Magic continue to freefall.
The Wizards should continue to be led by Bradley Beal, who averages 29.2 points per game to go along with 6.3 assists. This Washington team can score in bunches, as they currently rank 4th in the league as a team averaging 115.8 ppg.
While the offense looks to put up some numbers, some of that has to be contributed to a necessity as the defense does very little to stop anyone. Washington allows a league-worst 120.7 per contest as they have taken the defense is only a suggestion mantra to heart.
These guys love shootouts as evidenced by the total for this game being the highest on the board by far at 241.5.

On the other side, the Grizzlies enter this contest as one of the surprises of this NBA season.
This team was expected dead on arrival, but have been one of the league's scrappiest teams. They currently sit at 26-26 on the season as they battle to hold onto the Western Conferences 8th seed (and first-round beating at the hands of the Western Conference elite).
Memphis was thumped good in their previous contest as the 76ers routed them 119-107 in Philadelphia. They have managed to win 6 of their last 8 contest overall.
The Grizzlies are led by rookie phenom Ja Morant, who averages 17.4 points per game while dishing 7 assists. Jonas Valanciunas remains a key contributor as well with 15.1 ppg and 10.2 rebounds.
This is generally a young team with several players that are not considered household names, but they are fighters. They average 113.2 points per game, which is good for top 10 in the league. And much like the Wizards, they allow a lot as well coming in at 114.9, which ranks 25th in the league.
As for betting this contest, the initial line opened at Memphis -1.5 and has moved to -2 even -2.5 at a few shops. The Grizzlies are 6-2 ATS in their last 8, which coincides with this recent run of good play.
The Grizzlies are also 5-0 in their last 5 Sunday games and 5-0 in the last 5 games they were favored. Look for these small trends to continue as the Grizzlies put up another W in their quest to make the postseason when nobody thought they could.
