Preview

While Sporting Kansas City aim to rebound from their first loss this month, the Chicago Fire look to continue their recent home success.

In the mix for the top spot in the Western Conference, Kansas City looks to keep the Fire from a fourth straight home win on Saturday.

A victory in this contest would propel SKC (9-6-2, 29 points) to first place in the Western Conference for the time being. However, Kansas City must keep focus and not dwell on Wednesday's 1-0 loss to FC Dallas that snapped its three-game winning streak.

Kansas City thought it should have been awarded a late penalty on Dallas keeper Jimmy Mauer in that match, but instead the club is forced to move forward from its first loss in four October contests.

"We've just got to move on," defender Jaylin Lindsey told Sporting Kansas City's official website. "We've got another game on Saturday coming really quick, so we've just got to move onto that one."

SKC will be looking for a fifth consecutive victory over Chicago (5-8-4, 19 points), including a 1-0 win at home on Oct. 7. Winston Reid scored the lone goal in that contest.

The Fire are just trying to move above the playoff line in the East. Since Chicago's scheduled contest against Minnesota United FC from Wednesday was postponed due to COVID-19 issues with that opponent, the club is well rested and has a chance to pick up a critical three points.

In their most recent action, the Fire got goals from C.J. Sapong and Boris Sekulic en route to a 2-1 win -- and third straight at home -- over lowly D.C. United.

"We are preparing very (well)," Sekulic told the Fire's official website. "We are doing this every week. So, for now, it's going OK."

Both of Sapong's goals this season have come at home. Meanwhile, Kansas City's Johnny Russell has posted a team-leading six goals but none in the last four contests.
