The Arizona Cardinals are a National Football League team based in Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. The Cardinals compete in the National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The team plays its home games at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Cardinals were established in Chicago in 1898 and were a charter member of the NFL in 1920. The franchise was in St. Louis from 1960-1987 and started playing in Phoenix in 1988. The Cardinals won two NFL championships prior to the 1970 merger with the AFL. They won the NFC title in 2008 but lost their only Super Bowl appearance.
