Toronto Blue Jays vs. San Francisco Giants Preview and Predictions 05-15-2019 in MLB

It took more than a dozen games, but the Toronto Blue Jays finally got a taste of what Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is capable of doing. The phenom hopes to build off his best performance in the major leagues when Toronto visits the San Francisco Giants for the finale of their two-game interleague series on Wednesday afternoon.

The 20-year-old son of a Hall-of-Famer, Guerrero batted just .191 with one RBI over his first 13 games in the majors before going 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs in Tuesday's 7-3 triumph. He also drew a walk and scored twice while starting pitcher Trent Thornton helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored as the Blue Jays won for just the third time in 13 contests. Pablo Sandoval went deep for San Francisco, which suffered its fourth loss in five games. Mac Williamson, who recorded two hits in his season debut on May 7 but just one in his next four contests, went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Tuesday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Edwin Jackson (2018: 6-3, 3.33 ERA) vs. Giants RH Shaun Anderson (NR)

Jackson will make major-league history by playing for a record 14th different team when he unleashes his first pitch on Wednesday - four days after being acquired from Oakland. The 35-year-old German-born journeyman, who briefly was property of Toronto in July 2011 as he was obtained and dealt away in a three-team trade, posted a 1-0 record and 6.75 ERA in three minor-league outings this season. Jackson is 5-6 with a 4.54 ERA in 13 starts and one relief appearance against San Francisco in his career.

Anderson is expected to be summoned from Triple-A Sacramento to make his major-league debut. The 24-year-old Floridian has made seven starts for the River Cats this year, going 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 35 innings. Anderson was selected by Boston in the third round of the 2016 draft but was traded to the Giants in July 2017 as part of a package for Eduardo Nunez.

WALK-OFFS

1. Giants C Buster Posey is on track to be activated from the concussion list on Friday, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

2. Blue Jays OF Randal Grichuk has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games after going 1-for-4 on Tuesday.

3. Toronto SS Freddy Galvis is riding a five-game hitting streak following his RBI double in the first inning of the series opener.
