Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Boston College Eagles Pick & Prediction JANUARY 27th 2024

Boston College and Notre Dame continue Atlantic Coast Conference play with their second meeting in as many weeks on Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Ind.

The Eagles (11-8, 2-6 ACC) have won three consecutive meetings in the series following a 63-59 home win on Jan. 15. Boston College followed that up by losing two straight games, including Tuesday’s 76-71 setback at Virginia Tech.

A second-half rally to cut an 11-point halftime deficit down to two in the final minute was not enough for the Eagles on Tuesday. Devin McGlockton collected 19 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

“You just find yourself digging out of a hole when you’re down 12 or 13 on the road,” Boston College coach Earl Grant said. “I thought the second half was really good. … We needed to knock down a few more free throws and get a few more stops.”

The Eagles continue to get team-best production from big man Quinten Post, who recorded 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Virginia Tech.

Post has 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds for the season. He has scored double-digit points in all but one game this season.

Notre Dame (7-12, 2-6) dropped its third straight game with a 73-61 setback to Miami on Wednesday.

The Fighting Irish have lost five of six since the calendar turned to 2024 and four in a row at home.

“Our basketball IQ needs to keep growing as a team,” first-year Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry said. “I am in a position to both challenge our guys on how to grow as players and as people.”

Markus Burton had a team-high 15 points against the Hurricanes, marking his 12th straight game scoring in double-digits.

The freshman leads the Irish with 16.3 points per game this season, while J.R. Konieczny — who had 13 points and six rebounds against Miami — is second with 9.6.
