The Kansas City Chiefs head into Week 6 with a chip on their shoulder. This season has started off poorly for the former Super Bowl champions, and they’re stuck in a rut. They have a 2-3 record and are currently at the bottom of the AFC West. As they prepare to face Washington, some fans are starting to ring the alarm. The question is, should they really start to worry?

Not much was expected from Washington to start the year, but they haven’t been awful. The team’s success hinges on the defense, who has allowed a lot of points this year. Preparing to play the Chiefs will be their toughest task yet. Unfortunately for them, there is little room for error when facing Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Football Team Preview

Kansas City fans feel like they’re in deep water, especially after their recent performance. Their loss to the Buffalo Bills dropped them to 2-3 and 1-3 over four games. The offensive fire of the Chiefs has died down and teams are preparing better now. The fact is, Patrick Mahomes and Co. will need to turn the tides very soon.

The Chiefs are in good hands and facing a favorable opponent. The Washington defense has taken a step back in recent weeks and the Chiefs can capitalize. As of right now, the Chiefs’ main focus should be getting back to basics. Against Washington, the Chiefs can get back to their normal game plan.

Washington has faced some serious competition this year, including the Buffalo Bills. Now they’ll have to prepare for another high-powered offense. The only good news for the Washington Football Team is that Kansas City has hit a rough patch. Had this been the same Chiefs from 2019, Washington would be in a lot of trouble.

Washington is 1-2 at home and hopes to even out that record against the Chiefs. Although it will be no easy task, we can’t count Washington so easily. They limited the Chargers’ offense to just 20 points and will need that same energy against the Chiefs. That being said, they aren’t being spotted very many points at the sportsbook.

Chiefs vs. WFT Best Bets

Chiefs 30 - WFT 20

This needs to be a bounceback game for the Chiefs after their recent loss. The Los Angeles Chargers are running away with the division and the Chiefs need to catch up. If they drop this game against Washington, they’ll likely have to fight for the number two spot. Expect Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to deal with this pressure and perform well.

Sure they’re on the road coming off a rough loss, but now's the time to turn up the heat. They don’t have a large spread to cover either, which definitely helps. Look for the Chiefs to take this one by around ten points.

Extra Points

1. The Chiefs are 6-0 in their last six games against Washington.

2. Kansas City has a 6-0 ATS record against Washington.

3. The Chiefs average nearly 31 ppg compared to Washington’s 24.6.

Best Bet: Kansas City Chiefs -6.5

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Football Team Recap OCT 17TH 2021

Patrick Mahomes passed for 397 yards and two touchdowns Sunday and the Kansas City Chiefs overcame three turnovers to topple the Washington Football Team 31-13 at Landover, Md.

Mahomes bounced back from two second-quarter interceptions, completing 32 of 47 passes. The Kansas City (3-3) defense, ranked 31st coming in, held Washington (2-4) scoreless in the second half.

All three of the takeaways by Washington came in the second quarter, but the Chiefs rallied from a 13-10 halftime deficit by converting 8 of 10 third downs in the second half and scoring 21 unanswered points.

Tyreek Hill snagged nine receptions and Travis Kelce added eight while providing 76 and 99 yards receiving, respectively, as the Chiefs' offense rolled to 499 total yards.

Hill caught a 2-yard touchdown dart and Darrel Williams scored on a 3-yard rush to give the Chiefs a 24-13 margin with 14:02 remaining. Making his first NFL start, Williams provided 62 yards on 21 carries subbing for the injured Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Mahomes capped the second-half flurry by connecting with Demarcus Robinson for a 24-yard touchdown with 3:14 remaining.

Taylor Heinicke completed 24 of 39 passes for 182 yards but Washington gained little offensive rhythm, recording just 76 second-half yards. It committed two turnovers.

J.D. McKissic led Washington with 110 yards from scrimmage, rushing eight times for 45 yards and catching eight passes for 65.

Interceptions by Kendall Fuller and Bobby McCain and a fumble recovery by Kamren Curl enabled Washington to turn over Kansas City three times in the second quarter.

A fumble by Mecole Hardman was converted into a touchdown and a 13-10 Washington lead at halftime. Ricky Seals-Jones slipped behind the Kansas City secondary and caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Heinicke with 1:18 remaining.

Both of Mahomes' first-half interceptions came in the red zone after the Chiefs reached the Washington 9 and 20. The first pick came after a drop by Hill and the second after Mahomes threw wildly to avoid a sack.

Kansas City's only touchdown of the first half came on its first possession, a 10-play, 95-yard march capped by Williams' 2-yard run.
