The Miami Dolphins head to London to face the Jaguars on Sunday. After being routed by the Buccaneers, this looks to be a great matchup for the Dolphins. Although their team has been plagued by injuries, they’ve done their best to stay competitive. This week they’ll face a much more favorable opponent when they face the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-5 and haven’t had much to look forward to. They were recently beaten by AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans. Urban Meyer has voiced his disappointment with the losing streak, but the luck could change. As they prepare to face Miami, this could be the first game the Jaguars actually win. It all depends on the performance of Trevor Lawerence.

Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

This game takes place in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This means no home-field advantage for the Jaguars. However, it also means an earlier wake-up call for the teams and a long road trip. This is something the Dolphins and Jaguars will both have to overcome. It’ll make it easier for the Dolphins, though, since they don’t have to worry about an unruly crowd.

The Dolphins come off a pretty awful loss to the Buccaneers, 45-17. They allowed over 500 yards of offense, and Tom Brady accounted for 411 of it. They also allowed five touchdowns through the air, something their defense isn’t known for. If the Dolphins want to win their first game since Week 1, they’ll need to tighten up on defense.

A question we’re all dying to know is, will the Jaguars ever secure a win? After the first five weeks, they look like one of the worst teams in the NFL. Trevor Lawrence has still thrown for more interceptions than touchdowns, and the defense is constantly walked over. Their recent game against Tennessee was proof that the Jaguars seem to have given up.

After a 37-19 loss, the Jaguars are on a skid towards an 0-17 season. They can turn it around here, but they’ll need better play from Trevor Lawrence. At this point, the Jaguars have lost twenty games in a row. Turning this season around is nearly out of the question, and Urban Meyer could be returning to the NCAAF.

Dolphins vs. Jaguars Prediction

Dolphins 24 - Jaguars 14

The Miami Dolphins come into this game as the more consistent team. Despite their horrible outing against the Buccaneers, they’ve been fairly competitive. The biggest news is that Tua Tagovailoa could be returning against the Jaguars. If he does, Miami will be in much better shape here.

Even if they decide to hold Tua from returning for an extra week, the Dolphins are the better team. The Jaguars haven’t shown at all this season that they’re capable of a win. Urban Meyer and the team’s focus are in other places, and it shows. For bettors, the Jaguars are only given 3 points in this one, not nearly enough to cover.

Extra Points

1. Miami is 4-2 ATS in their last six games against the Jaguars.

2. The Dolphins are 6-0 ATS in their last six Week 6 games.

3. Tua Tagovialoa could make his return in Week 6 versus Jacksonville.

Best Bet: Miami Dolphins -3

Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Recap OCT 17TH 2021

Matthew Wright made a 53-yard field goal as time expired to help the Jacksonville Jaguars snap a 20-game losing streak, courtesy of a 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in London.

Wright also made field goals of 54 and 40 yards. The 54-yard field goal with 3:40 left in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career. Entering this game, Jacksonville had not made a single field goal this year.

Jacksonville (1-5) received a strong performance from rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence and wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. Lawrence completed 25 of 41 passes for 319 yards and one touchdown, while Jones caught seven passes for 100 yards and one score.

Tua Tagovailoa returned from missing three games with fractured ribs and completed 33 of 47 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns for Miami (1-5), which hast lost five straight games. Rookie wideout Jaylen Waddle had 10 catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while tight end Mike Gesicki had receptions catches for 115 yards.

Jacksonville answered with Wright's 40-yard field goal. The Jaguars became the last NFL team to make a field goal this year.

After second-quarter field goals of 33 and 24 yards by Miami's Jason Sanders, Jacksonville went into halftime trailing just 13-10 after Lawrence connected with Jones on a 28-yard TD pass.

That capped a six-play drive that included a fourth-down conversion on a pass from Lawrence to Laviska Shenault Jr. On the TD throw, Jones outreached Miami's Noah Igbinoghene in the end zone.

Jacksonville took its first lead of the game, 17-13, on James Robinson's 1-yard run with 12:29 left in the third quarter. It marked the first time this season Jacksonville scored on consecutive possessions.

Jaguars cornerback Nevin Lawson, playing his 94th NFL game, got his first career interception. Robinson, however, was stopped on a fourth-down run at Miami's 9-yard line.

Miami took advantage and drove 91 yards on seven plays as Waddle caught a 2-yard TD pass with 10:25 left in the fourth, giving the Dolphins a 20-17 lead.

Wright then made his 54-yard field goal that curved just inside the right post, tying the score 20-20 with 3:45 left in the fourth.

The winning drive was set up after Miami failed to convert fourth-and-1 from its own 46. Malcolm Brown was stuffed for no gain.
