Although the Atlanta Falcons have started the season 0-2, they have a lot going for them. Their offense looks incredible, while their defense needs to iron out a few things. Still, this team is not far from earning their first win of the 2022-23 NFL season. In fact, they might be able to earn one as they head to Seattle. They’ll face QB Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The Geno Smith-led Seahawks have started their season off 1-1. Smith has done well so far as a starting quarterback, but last week proved to be too much for Seattle. They faced Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers, losing 27-7. They’ll head back home to Seattle, a place where they feel comfortable playing. The home crowd should boost their confidence.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Preview (NFL Week 3)

With Marcus Mariota under center, the Atlanta Falcons offense has taken a step up from last season. Through the first two games, the Atlanta Falcons have scored an average of 26.5 points per game. The team ranks ninth in the NFL in this category, a remarkable step up.

Their main strength is their running game, which ranks seventh in the NFL. They average 145.5 yards per game and are led by Cordarrelle Patterson. Last week, Patterson only earned 41 yards rushing. However, he put up 120 in week 1. Keep an eye on him against Seattle.

We’d like to see Marcus Mariota spread the ball around and develop the passing game. Through the first two games, the Seahawks have allowed 262 passing yards per game. The Falcons can use this to their advantage and attack the Seattle secondary to get ahead.

The Seattle Seahawks come into this game trying to right the ship from last week. After being blown out by 20 points, Seattle needs to go back to the drawing board. As we mentioned, they’ve allowed 262 passing yards per game, one of the worst secondaries in the entire league.

This week, the Seahawks need to play to their strengths, their passing game. Utilizing DK Metcalf is going to be their best bet against the Falcons. Through the first two weeks, the Seahawks have averaged just 178.5 passing yards per game, ranking 27th overall.

The worst area is their running game, where they average just 56 yards per game. They’re the worst team in the league in this category and they need to address that. If they can establish a running game, they can control the clock. This could put a dent in the Falcons' offense.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Prediction

The Seahawks are the only team coming into this game with a win. They won the first game of the season against the Denver Broncos. The strange thing was their steep drop-off from the first week. The biggest difference here is the Seahawks have the home advantage, which we saw in week 1. Still, the Falcons have played two very strong teams and only narrowly lost.

Because of this, we’re going to take the Atlanta Falcons over the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks offense isn’t nearly as potent as Atlanta’s and their defense is awful. Atlanta only comes in as one-point favorites, giving us even more of a reason to take them.

Final Score: 27-13 (Seahawks)

EXTRA POINTS

1. Atlanta is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games against Seattle.

2. The Falcons are 6-2-1 against the spread on the road over their last nine games.

3. This season, the Falcons have covered the spread in both of their first two games.

Best Bet: Falcons -1 (-106) and Under 41.5 (-106)
