We’re heading into week 3 and each of these teams is 0-2 to start the year. The Las Vegas Raiders are heading to Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday. Coming off of a 29-23 loss to the Cardinals, the Raiders need to learn how to finish games. This week might be a better match-up for them, as their opponent is struggling as well. Still, they can’t underestimate them.

The Tennessee Titans have had a rough start to this season. Last week, they were embarrassed by the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. After losing 41-7, the Titans are heading back home to host the Raiders. Sitting at the bottom of the AFC South, the Titans desperately need a win. If they can’t pull this off, there might be some on-field changes.

Raiders vs. Titans Preview, Trends and Stats

The Las Vegas Raiders were leading the Arizona Cardinals 20-0 at the end of the first half. However, the 20-0 lead wasn’t enough, as the Cardinals battled back and won 29-23. So, what went wrong and how can the Raiders fix it? It all starts with a problem they’ve suffered, defense.

The Raiders secondary has caused them trouble for a very long time. Last week, the Raiders defense allowed 16 points in the fourth quarter. This led to a tie at the end of the fourth quarter and sent the game to overtime. A fumble by WR Hunter Renfrow led to a Cardinals victory.

This season, Raiders QB Derek Carr has thrown three interceptions. As a team, the Raiders have turned the ball over four times, nearly as many as the Titans. As they prepare to face Tennessee, they’ll need to focus on protecting the ball and playing good defense.

The Tennessee Titans have a lot to fix heading into Sunday’s game. Their defense has looked awful, but that’s partly because of how bad their offense has been. This season, the Titans have averaged 13.5 points per game, ranking 28th in the NFL. This desperately needs to be fixed.

Derrick Henry, the workhorse running back for the Tennessee Titans, has averaged just 53.5 rushing yards per game. Somehow opposing teams have been able to completely nullify his impact. The good news is the Raiders have allowed 109.5 rushing yards each game.

Perhaps opening up the passing game to start would free up Derrick Henry. Ryan Tannehill, the teams starting quarterback, has averaged just 191.5 passing yards each game. Needless to say, they need to find a way to score and they might need to do more than just run the ball.

Raiders vs. Titans Prediction

Between these two teams, the only team that has looked good offensively is the Raiders. Last week, the Raiders were taught a lesson in controlling the ball and finishing the game. They come into the game as only 1.5-point favorites. The Titans don’t have a good enough secondary to stop Davante Adams, so we’ll take the Raiders.

When looking at previous games between these two, the Raiders are 2-1 in the last three games. Keep in mind, however, that these teams haven’t played each other since 2019. With a lot on the line for both teams, the Raiders are our pick here. We’ll also take the over since both defenses have struggled this season.

Final Score: 30-27 (Raiders)

1. Tennessee is 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 games when playing at home against Las Vegas.

2. WR Hunter Renfrow (Raiders) is listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s game.

3. The Titans have the 30th-ranked defense in terms of points allowed (31.0).

Best Bet: Las Vegas Raiders -1.5 (-110) and Over 45.5 (-110)
