The game between the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers is likely to get a lot of attention. The Saints, with a 4-7 record this season, are looking for their second road win of the year. Injuries still plague the team, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come away with a win this weekend. It will, however, be tough against the 49ers stellar defense.

The San Francisco 49ers have a pretty impressive record at 6-4. They’re trying to work their way back to the top of the NFC West and a win would help. The 49ers are also dealing with a few injuries, including one to WR Deebo Samuel. After three straight wins, the 49ers are looking to win their fourth in a row.

Saints vs. 49ers Preview, Trends and Stats

The New Orleans Saints are among the top fifteen teams in points per game. On average, they’re putting up 22.6 points per game, ranking 15th overall. They have a pretty solid running game as well, averaging 117.7 yards per game.

The problem is this hasn’t resulted in wins for the team, which is why they’re 4-7. Their most recent game, however, was a 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. This week, they’ll face a much better competitor and one that has an incredible defense.

Andy Dalton is likely to stay under center for the Saints, which is a big problem. The good news is that Alvin Kamara is healthy and so is Chris Olave. With a few reliable targets, perhaps they can get their offense going a little earlier.

The San Francisco 49ers come into this game as pretty heavy favorites and for good reason. This year, they’ve really stepped it up on both sides of the ball, including on offense. They rank 11th in the NFL, averaging 23.6 points per game and are led by Jimmy Garoppolo.

Their defense is really what has pushed them over the edge, however. Allowing an average of 17.3 points per game and ranking fourth in the NFL. With a defense like theirs, we’re surprised they’ve only won six games this season.

Saints vs. 49ers Predictions

The New Orleans Saints don’t have quite enough offense to keep up with the 49ers. In previous matches against tough defenses, the Saints struggled to move the ball. In fact, they recently lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-10. If the Steelers can beat them by ten points, the 49ers should as well.

San Francisco is one of the better teams in the NFC, especially on defense. Look for them to control the pace of the game and get off to an early lead. They shouldn’t have much trouble covering the spread either.

Final Score: 24-13 (49ers)

1. The New Orleans Saints are 0-4 against the spread when playing on the road this season.

2. The San Francisco 49ers have a 3-1 record at home.

3. The total has gone under in 13 of San Francisco's last 18 games.

Best Bet: 49ers -8.5 (-110) and Under 42.5 (-105)
