The Minnesota Vikings are hoping to finally get their record over .500 this Sunday. Currently, they’re 5-5 after their win over the Green Bay Packers.

After their win in Week 12, the Vikings have won two straight games and hope for a third on Thursday. Unfortunately for them, they’re facing a team that is fighting for their own positioning in the NFC.

The San Francisco 49ers have the same record as the Vikings at 5-5. However, the distinct difference is that they’re third in the NFC West.

A loss here could be a huge setback in their playoff chances, so the Vikings can expect a fight. Needless to say, this is shaping up to be an incredible clash of two NFC teams in need of a win. The question is, who should you bet on?

Vikings at 49ers Preview for NFL Week 12

The Minnesota Vikings have done well the last couple of weeks, but there’s more to be desired. They nearly allowed the Packers to come back and win last week, something that has been a problem.

We’d like to see more initiative from this football team and something called a “killer instinct.” This means not letting up when you have your opponent on the ropes to ensure a win.

It seems as if Kirk Cousins is taking that into his own hands at this point. Many players have voiced concerns about the team’s conservative nature and are fed up.

We believe that this was shown last week when they took a ton of shots downfield and were successful. If the Vikings want to beat the 49ers, they’ll need to tap into that offense all over again on Sunday.

San Francisco is an unassuming team, but a good team nonetheless. They’ve fought tooth and nail over the last few weeks to grab two big wins. One of these wins was against their division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams.

If the 49ers can limit the Rams offense to just ten points, imagine what they can do to Minnesota. However, they’ll still need a strong game from their own offense.

The Minnesota defense is great at putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. They don’t lead the league in sacks, but they do a great job at making quarterbacks uneasy. They’ll likely try to get to Garoppolo early and make him uneasy in the pocket. The 49ers can combat this by establishing the running game, provided Elijah Mitchell is active.

Vikings vs. 49ers Picks

Vikings 30 - 49ers 27

After taking a look at each of these teams, we have our pick. Before we get into that, we’ll remind you that the 49ers are -3 in this game, and the total is set at 48.5.

We’ll also state that the 49ers are 1-4 at home this season, and the Vikings are 2-3 on the road. All that being said, we’ll take the Minnesota Vikings to win this one.

It’s important to note that we stated we’ll take the Vikings to win, not just cover the spread. This means we’ll be taking the Vikings +159 Moneyline. They have an incredible offense and should be able to put pressure on Garoppolo.

Look for the Vikings to increase their record to 6-5 when they face the 49ers on Sunday.

EXTRA POINTS

1. The Minnesota Vikings are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.

2. Minnesota is 6-3 SU in their last nine games against San Francisco.

3. San Francisco are 1-8 SU in their last nine games at home.

Best Bet: Minnesota Vikings ML +159

Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers

Tevin Coleman rushed for 105 yards and two short touchdowns Saturday afternoon as the San Francisco 49ers used a dominating defense and running game to crush the Minnesota Vikings 27-10 in the NFC divisional playoffs in Santa Clara, Calif.

The top-seeded 49ers (14-3) earned the right to host next Sunday's NFC Championship Game against either Seattle or Green Bay. The Seahawks and Packers play Sunday at Green Bay.

In the first playoff game in the history of Levi's Stadium, the 49ers outgained the sixth-seeded Vikings (11-7) 308-147, held a 21-7 advantage in first downs and took advantage of two turnovers in the one-sided win.

Coleman's touchdowns came from 1 yard in the second quarter -- to break a 7-all tie -- and from 2 yards in the third quarter, to extend a seven-point 49ers lead to 24-10.

Jimmy Garoppolo opened the San Francisco scoring with a 3-yard pass to Kendrick Bourne on the team's first offensive possession of the game, and Robbie Gould completed the 49ers' scoring with 35- and 21-yard field goals.

Coleman's second touchdown came eight plays after cornerback Richard Sherman intercepted a Kirk Cousins pass at the Minnesota 42 yard line.

Cousins, who was relentlessly pressured and sacked six times, finished 21-for-29 for 172 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

The TD pass came in response to the 49ers' first score and capped Minnesota's best drive of the game, a seven-play, 79-yarder. Stefon Diggs hauled in the scoring toss for a 41-yard touchdown, tying the game at 7-7 with 5:23 left in the first quarter.

Nick Bosa had two of the 49ers' six sacks, while Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, Dee Ford and Solomon Thomas collected one apiece.

Garoppolo threw just 19 times, completing 11 for 131 yards and the one touchdown. He also had one interception, by Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks.

Coleman's 105 rushing yards came on 22 carries, none of which gained more than 11 yards. With Raheem Mostert adding another 58 yards on 12 carries, the 49ers finished with 186 rushing yards.

Dalvin Cook was Minnesota's leading rusher with 18 yards on nine carries. The Vikings totaled 21 rushing yards on 10 carries.

Each team also lost a fumble.
