The Minnesota Vikings have become the NFL's most inconsistent team. From week to week, you never know which Vikings team you'll get. This is unfortunate for them as they are a talented team but have no real guidance. At this point, another loss could mean the end of their coach's time in Minnesota. As luck would have it, their next game is against the winless Lions.

The Detroit Lions, although winless, isn't a terrible football team. They've been contenders in each game they've played but haven't found a way to finish. This week, they face one of their division rivals, a team they'd desperately like to beat. They might be 0-10-1, but you shouldn't be counting the Detroit Lions out so quickly. There's a chance that the Lions could shock you here.

Vikings at Lions Preview for NFL Week 13

The Minnesota Vikings have all the ingredients to be an incredible football team. However, these ingredients are cast aside when they need to perform in big games. Last week, when they faced the 49ers, they had two opportunities to score and failed. This separates the great teams from the mediocre, the ability to score when you need it most.

As they prepare to head to Detroit, you should remember that they nearly lost to the Lions. The first time these two teams played, Minnesota was the home team and won 19-17. That alone should tell you the kind of team Minnesota is. This time, however, the injury list for Minnesota is even longer. So, could the Detroit Lions be the best pick at the sportsbook on Sunday?

We don't believe that the Lions will go winless this season, especially how they've played lately. They tied with the Steelers, barely lost to the Browns, and had a narrow loss to the Bears. Finishing games has been a focal point, and the stars are aligning for them right here. The Vikings are heavily-injured and one of the easiest teams to throw off their game.

All it takes is the Lions putting some extra pressure on Kirk Cousins. The second he gets rattled, the Vikings' offense begins to fall apart. They'll also need to find a way to stop the run, led by Alexander Mattison on Sunday. If the Lions can do that, they could find themselves the victor on Sunday when they host Minnesota. If not, the game will still remain rather close.

Vikings vs. Lions Best Bets

Vikings 20 - Lions 17

Against the spread this season, the Minnesota Vikings are 6-5, going 4-2 ATS on the road. That's a strong record for a team that is 5-6. However, can you trust them to win by seven? This is where we believe the outcome of the game will be different. The Vikings have only beaten two teams this season by seven points or more. The Detroit Lions weren't one of them.

The Detroit Lions, on the other hand, are 7-4 against the spread this season. The reason for such an excellent record at the sportsbook is because they always keep their games close. They haven't lost by more than seven points in three weeks. In this one, the better bet is the home team plus the seven points. If you're feeling risky, take the Detroit Lions +245 Moneyline.

EXTRA POINTS

1. The Minnesota Vikings are 6-12 ATS in their last 18 games.

2. The Detroit Lions are 4-1 ATS in their previous five games.

3. The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Detroit's last nine games.

Best Bet: Detroit Lions +7

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Recap DEC 5TH 2021

Jared Goff completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown on the last play of the game and the Detroit Lions entered the win column with a 29-27 victory over the visiting Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Goff passed for 296 yards and three touchdowns for the Lions (1-10-1), who drove 75 yards in 14 plays after squandering a 14-point lead. St. Brown had a career-high 10 receptions for 86 yards. Jamaal Williams rushed for 71 yards on 17 carries.

Kirk Cousins threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns, including a go-ahead score to Justin Jefferson with 1:50 remaining, for Minnesota.

Jefferson caught 11 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings (5-7). Alexander Mattison rushed for 90 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.

Both teams played without their top running backs. Minnesota's Dalvin Cook and Detroit's D'Andre Swift were sidelined by shoulder injuries. The Vikings lost one of their starting wide receivers, Adam Thielen, to a left ankle injury during the first quarter.

The Lions led 20-6 at halftime.

Minnesota scored first on Greg Joseph's 41-yard field goal. Joseph also made a 31-yarder late in the quarter.

The Lions scored early in the second with Goff connecting with T.J. Hockenson on a 9-yard score. Hockenson also had a 25-yard reception during the drive.

Following a Cousins fumble, Goff hooked up with Brock Wright on a 23-yard touchdown. Riley Patterson's field goals of 31 and 41 yards completed the first-half scoring.

Joseph kicked a 31-yard field goal and Mattison scored on an 8-yard run to pull Minnesota within five points at 20-15. Patterson drilled a 49-yard field goal late in the third to give Detroit an eight-point advantage.

The Vikings pulled within two with 11:57 remaining on Cousins' 5-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Osborn. The two-point conversion run failed.

Detroit gambled on 4th-and-1 from its own 28 with four minutes remaining and it backfired. Goff fumbled and the Vikings recovered at the 19-yard line. Cousins hit Jefferson from three yards out on a third-down pass with 1:50 left to put Minnesota ahead.
