Half of week 7 does not count for anything beyond a win. Seven of the fourteen games cross the conferences: no tiebreaker, no rematch, no consequence past the column it lands in.
Which makes it the most overread week on the calendar. Four more teams are on a bye, Buffalo, Jacksonville, the Chargers and Washington, and the games that are left will be used all week to explain things they do not explain.

The Take: The week that decides nothing
Cross-conference games are played once every four years by rotation. Neither side has useful recent tape, so the market leans on reputation to fill the gap: and reputation is the slowest-moving input in football.
Our view: this is the week where the biggest gaps between price and reality appear, and the week fewest people look for them. The games that matter least are the ones priced with the least information.

Out of conference, which is where season-long narratives get built on the least useful evidence. Both sides lost the same practice days on the short week. What changes is how much can be installed, which punishes whoever planned to be clever. We would want a reason to be on the favourite here beyond the fact that they are the favourite.

Across the conferences. The result counts once and then stops counting. A 9:30 AM ET kickoff from abroad. Both teams are out of routine, which is the point and also the reason to be careful with it. Our view: the number will move more than the matchup warrants.

A conference game. Nothing head-to-head to win, but conference record separates teams level on wins. The visitor loses 3 hours flying east, and an early kickoff on the road is the one travel penalty with real evidence behind it. We would rather have the points here than the opinion.

Interconference. Worth a win and nothing else, and any conclusion drawn from it should be priced that way. One side here, the Vikings, has had a week off. Rested is easy to say and hard to put a number on. We think the honest answer is that this one is close, and close games are where prices get lazy.

Division game, and the schedule guarantees a rematch. Whatever is learned here gets used twice. The Dolphins have had two weeks to look at this one. That edge is real and it is mostly preparation, not legs. Our read: the total tells you more about what the books expect than the side does.

A division meeting, and those are the ones nobody gets to forget: the tiebreaker outlives the week. A one o’clock start, one of a crowded slate, which is where an edge is easiest to find and hardest to notice. Our view: wait for the number rather than the news.

A bye behind the Bengals, and the healthy version of a team is a genuine variable, and the hardest one of all to price.
