Our number has Georgia Tech by 2.8, the market has it by 3.5. No bet.
Georgia Tech opened as a 4.5-point favourite at Stanford at DraftKings and is 3.5 now. Our number is Georgia Tech by 2.8. The gap is 0.7 points, and the threshold for a bet here is 3. That is a pass.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.
Stanford is 5-3 at home against FBS teams over that span, losing by 4.2 points a game across 8 games. Georgia Tech is 4-1 on the road against FBS teams, winning by 1.4 a game across 5 games. The difference is 5.6 points in Georgia Tech’s favour. Half of it is 2.8.
Eight and five games is thin. All five of Georgia Tech’s road games are from 2025, because it has played all three of its 2026 games at home.
Georgia Tech on the road
Georgia Tech won four of its five road games against FBS teams in 2025, and three of the four were close: 30-29 at Wake Forest, 36-34 at Boston College and 27-20 at Colorado. The fourth was 27-18 at Duke. The loss was 48-36 at NC State.
That record wins games and does not cover big numbers. Georgia Tech won by 4 or more on the road in 2 of 5, which is what laying 3.5 asks.
Stanford at home
Stanford’s home record is better than its margin. Five wins, and three of them by 10 or more: 30-20 over Boston College and 31-10 over California in 2025, and 37-27 over Hawai’i on 29 August.
The three losses were heavy. Stanford lost 35-20 to Pittsburgh and 49-20 to Notre Dame in 2025, and 45-6 to Miami on 4 September. The Miami game is 39 points of an 8-game sample, and it is the most recent home game on the list.
2026 so far
Georgia Tech is 1-2. It lost 14-13 to Colorado and 45-24 to Tennessee, both FBS teams, then beat Mercer 44-11, a team outside the FBS, on 19 September. Against FBS teams it has scored 18.5 a game and allowed 29.5.
Stanford is 1-2, all three against FBS teams, and has lost two in a row. After the Hawai’i win and the Miami loss, it lost 35-7 at Duke on 19 September. It has scored 16.7 a game and allowed 35.7. Stanford is 0-2 in the ACC; Georgia Tech has not played a conference game.
Last season
Georgia Tech went 9-4 in 2025 and won by 7.2 a game, ending with a 25-21 loss to BYU at a neutral site on 27 December. Stanford went 4-8, lost by 10.3 a game, and went 0-6 on the road.
The two teams did not meet in 2025 or 2026.
The price

The moneyline has Georgia Tech at -175 and Stanford at +145, from -180 and +150 at the open. With the margin removed, that prices Georgia Tech to win 60.9% of the time. ESPN’s FPI has Georgia Tech at 67.5%.
Every measure here has Georgia Tech winning a close game. Ours agrees with the market to within a point.
Pick: no bet
No bet on the side. The gap is 0.7 points against a 3-point threshold.
What changes it
The line. Stanford becomes a bet at +6, where the gap is 3.2. Georgia Tech becomes a bet at +0.5, where the gap is 3.3, which would need the market to make Stanford the favourite.
Neither is close to 3.5. Availability can move a line that far, and this page does not state it.
