Hurricanes at Canadiens Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Last Updated on

Our number makes this an even game, and the price is close to even. No bet.

The Carolina Hurricanes are -118 and the Montreal Canadiens -102 at DraftKings. With the margin removed, that is a 51.7% chance for the Hurricanes and 48.3% for the Canadiens. Our number is 50.0% each. The gap is 1.7 points, and a side is a bet only when the gap is 5 or more.

How the number is built

One clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, where a win in overtime or a shootout counts as a win.

The Canadiens went 24-15-2 at home, meaning 24 wins, 15 regulation losses and 2 losses after regulation. That is a 58.5% home win rate over 41 games. The Hurricanes went 24-12-5 on the road and lost 17 of 41, a 41.5% road loss rate. The average of 58.5 and 41.5 is exactly 50.0.

The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add to more than 100%. Removed from -118 and -102, it leaves the Hurricanes at 51.7% and the Canadiens at 48.3%.

It is a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and nothing on this page measures what changed. The only evidence in hand is last season: 41 home games for the Canadiens and 41 road games for the Hurricanes. Both teams play before this game, the Canadiens at Toronto on 29 September and at Pittsburgh on 3 October, the Hurricanes three times from 29 September to 3 October. None of those games is in these figures.

The Canadiens at home, the Hurricanes on the road

The Canadiens at home scored 3.34 goals a game and allowed 3.10. The Hurricanes on the road scored 3.29 and allowed 2.78. The Hurricanes outscored opponents by 0.51 a game on the road, the Canadiens by 0.24 at home.

The Hurricanes finished 53-22-7 with 113 points and outscored opponents by 0.68 goals a game. They won four playoff series, the last of them 4-2 over the Vegas Golden Knights, and one of them was 4-1 over the Canadiens. The Canadiens finished 48-24-10 with 106 points and outscored opponents by 0.33 a game. They beat the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Buffalo Sabres, both 4-3, before that series. The method leaves the playoffs out.

The Canadiens won all three regular-season meetings in 2025-26: 7-5 at Carolina on 2 January, 5-2 at home on 24 March and 3-1 at Carolina on 29 March. The Hurricanes then won the playoff series. Neither set counts here, and eight games between the two say little either way.

Pick: no bet

No bet on the moneyline. The gap is 1.7 points against a 5-point threshold.

What changes it

A longer price on either side. At 50.0% each, the rule is the same for both teams: either one becomes a bet at +123 or longer, whatever the other is priced at.

With the margin removed, the over at +100 is priced at 47.8%. Our 53.7% is 5.9 points above it. Lean over 6.5 at +100. It stays a lean, because the only method this page stakes money on is the moneyline one.

The puck line has the Hurricanes -1.5 at +200 and the Canadiens +1.5 at -245. The Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games. The Canadiens lost by two or more in 18 of 82. Averaged, Hurricanes -1.5 lands 28.7% of the time against 31.9% priced. Pass on the puck line.
