Our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only (college football’s top division), over 2025 and 2026 together.

Illinois is 2-1, all at home. It beat UAB 42-23, lost 27-31 to Duke, and beat Southern Illinois 48-10, a team outside the FBS. Two FBS games, one win, and a margin of 7.5 a game across them.

Last season, and the one meeting

Ohio State went 12-2 in 2025, 7-0 at home and 5-0 on the road, and won by 24.1 a game. Both losses were at neutral sites, 10-13 to Indiana and 14-24 to Miami. Illinois went 9-4, 6-1 at home and 2-3 on the road, and won by 5.8 a game, ending with a 30-28 bowl win over Tennessee.

The line is posted, and this is the number. The old call set no price, so there was nothing for it to fail. Ohio State to win is still what our number expects, by 21.9 points, but backing that outright costs -4000. Against the line, the side is Illinois.
