How the number is built
Our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only (the top division of college football), across 2025 and 2026. A side is a bet when that number and the spread are at least 3 points apart. Anything closer is a pass.
Alabama is 7-1 at home against FBS teams over those two seasons, winning by 23.9 points a game. That is eight games, two of them from 2026. The loss was 23-21 to Oklahoma on 15 November 2025.
South Carolina is 0-4 on the road against FBS teams, losing by 9.0 a game. All four games are from 2025, because South Carolina has not played a road game in 2026.

ESPN’s FPI has Alabama at 82.2%. Both agree on the winner. The spread is the question, and our number puts Alabama 4.0 points further ahead than DraftKings does.
What the results say
Alabama is 3-0 and No. 8 in the AP poll. It beat East Carolina 48-10 at home, won 45-17 at Kentucky, and beat Florida State 50-36 at home on 19 September. South Carolina is 2-1 and unranked.
South Carolina’s 2026 is three home games. It beat Kent State 57-0 and Towson 45-9, and Towson is not an FBS team. Then it lost 41-34 to Mississippi State on 19 September, which leaves it 1-1 against FBS teams.
2025 is where the road number comes from. South Carolina went 4-8 and lost all four road games: by 9 at Missouri, 10 at LSU, 16 at Ole Miss and 1 at Texas A&M. Alabama went 11-4.
The one meeting in the two seasons read went to Alabama, 29-22 at South Carolina on 25 October 2025. That is a single game, played at the other stadium, and it is not part of our number.

I’m on the Crimson Tide.” Its pick read: “Pick: Alabama to win (no line posted yet)”. Its condition read: “Price discipline: none yet. I will set a number here once the line is posted.”
The number is now set, and the side has not moved. Alabama -12.5 is a bet, and at -14 it is a pass. The first version said it would look again if South Carolina beat Mississippi State comfortably. South Carolina lost that game 41-34.
The total
The total opened at 46.5 and is 53.5 now, over -115 and under -105. That is a 7-point move, and nothing in the data on this page says why it happened.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, 6 of Alabama’s 17 games went over 53.5, and 4 of South Carolina’s 13 did. The medians are 51 and 48 points. That points under.
The 2026 games say the opposite. All five FBS games these teams have played this season went over: Alabama’s 58, 62 and 86, and South Carolina’s 57 and 75. The two seasons point under and this season points over, so the total is a pass.
