Houston Christian at North Texas Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Last Updated on

No bet. Houston Christian has two road games against FBS teams, too few for our number to price this one.

North Texas is a 37.5-point favourite over Houston Christian at DraftKings, where it opened. Our number is North Texas by 31.0, 6.5 points short of the line. It makes no bet. The method needs at least 4 games in each sample before it prices a side, and Houston Christian has 2.

How the number is built

Our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.

North Texas is 6-1 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 21.9 points a game across 7 games. Houston Christian is 0-2 on the road against FBS teams, losing by 40.0 a game across 2 games. The difference is 61.9 points. Half of it is 30.95, which rounds to 31.0.

Houston Christian plays outside the FBS. Two games against FBS teams in two seasons is all the method has for it, and two games prove little. Read everything below with that in mind.

Houston Christian against FBS teams

The two games were a 59-7 loss at Nebraska on 13 September 2025 and a 31-3 loss at Rice on 5 September this season. Those margins are 52 and 28. The spread sits between them.

Everything else Houston Christian has played in 2025 and 2026 was against teams outside the FBS. It went 2-10 in 2025, 0-6 on the road, and was outscored by 13.4 points a game.

North Texas at home

North Texas won 6 of its 7 home games against FBS teams, and 3 of them by more than 37.5: 59-10 over Washington State, 55-17 over UTSA and 44-6 over UNLV on 12 September. The loss was 63-36 to South Florida in 2025.

So the home record does clear this number: three times in 7. That is the best case against our number. North Texas beat three FBS teams at home by more than 37.5, and Houston Christian lost its two FBS games by 52 and 28.

2026 so far

North Texas is 1-2. It lost 52-16 at Indiana, beat UNLV 44-6, and lost 49-35 at Texas State on 19 September. It has scored 31.7 a game and allowed 35.7, all against FBS teams.

The two teams did not meet in 2025 or so far in 2026. This is not a conference game.

The winner is not in question. The margin is, and there our number sits 6.5 points short of the market on a sample too thin to bet.

Pick: no bet

No bet on the spread. Our number rests on 9 games, split 7 and 2, and the method makes no bet when either sample is under 4 games.

Houston Christian’s 2 are losses by 52 and 28, one on each side of this spread. That is too little to price the game, whatever the line.

What changes it

More road games against FBS teams for Houston Christian. It has 2, and this one would be its third, still one short of 4.

A move in the line only changes the gap. At 37.5 the gap is 6.5 points, and it still rests on two Houston Christian games.

The total

The total is 58.5, unchanged from the open, over and under both -110.

Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, North Texas’s games went over 58.5 in 12 of 16. This season they produced 68, 50 and 84 points. Houston Christian’s two FBS games produced 66 and 34.

Lean over 58.5, no bet. The lean is North Texas’s record; Houston Christian’s two games say nothing either way.
