Our number has UNLV by 0.5. At +13.5, take Akron.
UNLV opened as a 14-point favourite at Akron and is 13.5 now at DraftKings. Our number is UNLV by 0.5. The gap is 13.0 points, and the threshold for a bet here is 3.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.
Akron is 2-3 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 2.0 points a game across 5 games. UNLV is 6-3 on the road against FBS teams, winning by 2.9 a game across 9 games. The difference is 0.9 points in UNLV’s favour. Half of it, 0.45, rounds to 0.5.
Akron’s five home games are all from 2025. Its one home game this season was against Robert Morris, a team outside the FBS, so it does not count.
UNLV on the road
UNLV’s road record is 6-3, and its average is small because the losses were large. It won by 17 at Sam Houston, 3 at Miami (OH), 14 at Wyoming, 32 at Colorado State and 25 at Nevada in 2025, and by 15 at Hawai’i on 5 September.
It lost by 25 and 17 at Boise State in 2025, the second of those on 5 December. Then on 12 September it lost 44-6 at North Texas. Those three games take 80 points off the six wins’ 106.
Akron at home
Akron’s home sample is five games and it is mixed. It beat Central Michigan 28-22 and Massachusetts 44-10. It lost 10-0 to Wyoming, 20-7 to Miami (OH) and 42-35 to Kent State.
The 34-point win over Massachusetts carries most of the +2.0. Without it, Akron’s other four home games average a 6.0-point loss (-24 over 4). The estimate would then be UNLV by about 4.5, and the gap about 9, still a bet.
2026 so far
UNLV is 1-2 and 1-0 in the Mountain West. It lost 27-21 to Memphis at home, won 21-6 at Hawai’i and lost at North Texas. It has scored 16.0 a game and allowed 25.7, all against FBS teams.
Akron is 1-2. It lost 38-16 at Wake Forest and 41-7 at Minnesota, and beat Robert Morris 45-10. Against its two FBS opponents it has scored 11.5 a game and allowed 39.5.
Last season
UNLV went 10-4 in 2025 and won by 6.1 a game. Its season ended with a 17-10 loss to Ohio on 23 December. Akron went 5-7 and was outscored by 5.2 a game.
The two teams did not meet in 2025 or so far in 2026.

The total
The total opened at 49.5 and is 52.5 now, over -112 and under -108. That is a 3-point rise.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, Akron’s games went over 52.5 in 6 of 13, and UNLV’s in 9 of 16. This season UNLV’s three games produced 48, 27 and 50 points. Akron’s two against FBS teams produced 54 and 48.
