Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers Preview and Predictions 04-17-2019 in MLB

The Texas Rangers have enjoyed the comforts of home thus far this season, winning seven of their first 10 games at Globe Life Park. They attempt to continue the success and complete a sweep when they host the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday for the finale of a three-game series.

Texas outslugged Los Angeles 12-7 in the opener of the set and rode a three-hitter by Mike Minor to a 5-0 victory on Tuesday. Joey Gallo hopes to remain in a zone against the Angels as he has gone deep in each of his first five games in the season series, recording 10 of his 15 RBIs on the year along the way. While the Rangers have won four of their last five contests, Los Angeles has dropped three of the first four on a road trip that concludes Wednesday. Mike Trout served as the Angels' designated hitter for the second straight night on Tuesday as he makes his way back from a strained groin that cost him three games and notched one of the team's hits while striking out for just the fifth time in 38 at-bats this campaign.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FS West (Los Angeles), FS Southwest Plus (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Matt Harvey (0-1, 10.05 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Lance Lynn (1-1, 4.82)

Harvey pitched well in his debut for the Angels but has struggled since, surrendering 14 runs and 17 hits over 8 1/3 innings in two starts. The 30-year-old native of Connecticut was fortunate to escape with a no-decision versus Milwaukee last Tuesday as he was tagged for six runs in 4 1/3 frames. Harvey made his first career start against Texas on April 4 and did not fare well as he yielded eight runs and 10 hits across four innings of a loss.

Lynn has bounced back from a dismal performance in his debut with the Rangers, allowing three runs and nine hits with 14 strikeouts and three walks over 13 innings in his last two starts. The 31-year-old native of Indiana suffered a road setback against the Angels on April 5 despite giving up just two runs in seven frames but notched a victory in Arizona last Wednesday after permitting only one run across six innings. The loss dropped Lynn to 0-2 with a 4.56 ERA in four career turns versus Los Angeles.

WALK-OFFS

1. Angels SS Andrelton Simmons lifted his batting average back above .200 (.215) by going 2-for-4 on Tuesday.

2. Texas 3B Asdrubal Cabrera has gone 3-for-8 with two homers and four RBIs over the first two games of the series.

3. Los Angeles recalled LHP Dillon Peters from Triple-A Salt Lake and optioned RHP John Curtiss to the Bees on Tuesday - one day after the 26-year-old was promoted and yielded a run on two hits and three walks over 2 1/3 innings in his team debut.
