The Texas Rangers seek just their second series win in almost two months when they cap a four-game set with the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. After opening the series with a win, the Rangers gained a split of a doubleheader Tuesday with a 3-2 win in 11 innings Tuesday night.
They haven't won a set since sweeping Detroit to open August and have not taken a series from a team other than the Tigers since June 21-23 against the Chicago White Sox. Willie Calhoun homered for Texas in the 5-1 loss to begin the twinbill and added a hit in the nightcap as the Rangers moved into a tie with the Angels for third place in the American League West. Mike Trout's two-run homer - his career-high 42nd - in the first game highlighted the victory in the afternoon for Los Angeles. The two-time MVP has 10 home runs versus Texas this year and will try to add to that total against All-Star Mike Minor, who takes the mound for the hosts Wednesday opposite rookie Patrick Sandoval.
