White Sox Can Win If…
Their bats stay hot. Chicago has slugged its way through this series, including a four-homer outburst in Tuesday’s 12-3 win and a dramatic ninth-inning rally to steal Wednesday’s 4-3 win. Edgar Quero and Andrew Benintendi have been catalysts, while Lenyn Sosa leads the team with 19 long balls.
Fraser Ellard (0-2, 4.82 ERA) will open the game. The 27-year-old lefty hasn’t allowed an earned run in three career appearances against the Twins and carries a sharp 1.07 WHIP this year.
“First and foremost, it’s about what’s happening with our young players,” manager Will Venable said. “You can point to a lot of areas where we’re making strides.”
Twins Can Win If…
Taj Bradley steadies the rotation. The former Rays righty (6-7, 4.82 ERA) will make his third start since joining Minnesota. He struggled against Chicago in his debut but bounced back with five strong innings against San Diego.
At the plate, Royce Lewis has been a bright spot. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two steals on Wednesday, and Byron Buxton (29 HR, .273 BA) remains a constant threat with his power-speed combo.
“When I’m comfortable, it feels like I’m just having fun, playing loose,” Lewis said. “It’s truly just see the ball, hit the ball.”
