Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Northwestern Wildcats Preview and Predictions 01-14-2020

Iowa looks to build off one of its best wins of the season when it visits Northwestern on Tuesday in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes bounced back from a disappointing 76-70 loss to Nebraska with a 67-49 rout of No. 14 Maryland on Friday to earn their second victory over a ranked opponent this season, and they hope to climb up the conference standings by notching their first true road win since Dec. 12.

"A lot of people were counting us out," Iowa forward Joe Wieskamp told reporters. "We could either fold or band together with the guys we have to compete and that's what we decided to do." Northwestern picked up its first Big Ten win of the season by holding off Nebraska 62-57 on Saturday. The injury-ravaged Wildcats had dropped their previous five games, including four by five points or fewer, before matching a season high with 10 3-pointers against the Cornhuskers. "It was a really good win for us and a lot of times people don't realize the commitment that goes in for these players," Northwestern coach Chris Collins told reporters. "You put that kind of investment into it and you don't get to taste some success then it can be hard."
