Los Angeles Sparks Can Win If…
The Sparks have been one of the hottest teams in the WNBA since mid-July, winning nine of their last 12 games. Despite Tuesday’s 105-97 loss to the Liberty, Los Angeles’ offense showed balance, with Kelsey Plum (26 points), Dearica Hamby (21), Azura Stevens (17), and Rickea Jackson (16) all scoring in double figures.
Cameron Brink’s ankle tweak is worth monitoring, but early signs indicate she should be available. For the Sparks to win, they’ll need to control the boards, take advantage of Dallas missing Arike Ogunbowale, and continue their offensive efficiency — currently 5th in the WNBA in field goal percentage.
Dallas Wings Can Win If…
Dallas ended a five-game losing streak with an 81-80 victory over Indiana, powered by Maddy Siegrist’s 22 points, Li Yueru’s 20, and Paige Bueckers’ 16 points and eight assists. The Wings used a massive 19-0 run to take control and held off a late Fever rally.
Without Ogunbowale again, Dallas will need another “score-by-committee” effort. Their inside scoring, led by Li Yueru, will be critical against the Sparks’ physical frontcourt. Limiting turnovers and slowing Los Angeles’ transition game are also key to pulling off the upset.
