The Los Angeles Sparks are clinging to playoff hopes and will try to complete a season sweep of the Dallas Wings when the two teams meet Sunday in LA.

The Sparks (19-22) are two games behind Seattle for the eighth and final playoff spot with three games left to play. Dallas (9-33) is already eliminated and enters on a nine-game losing streak but has shown flashes thanks to rookie star Paige Bueckers.

Sparks Can Win If…
Los Angeles has had Dallas’ number this season, winning all three meetings, including an 81-80 thriller on Aug. 20. Rickea Jackson scored 25 points in that contest and continues to step up, scoring in double figures in nine of the last 10 games.
Veterans Kelsey Plum (19.9 ppg) and Dearica Hamby (18.4 ppg, 8 rpg) provide consistent leadership, while Jackson gives the Sparks a young scoring threat.
“We’ve battled a lot of adversity from day one with injuries and stuck together,” assistant coach Mike Neighbors said.
If the Sparks tighten their defense and avoid a slow start, they can keep their playoff hopes alive.
Wings Can Win If…
Dallas is playing out the season but has found a silver lining in Bueckers. The rookie guard leads the Wings with 19.1 points and 5.3 assists per game, and she tied a WNBA rookie record by scoring 44 points against the Sparks in August.
With Arike Ogunbowale sidelined due to knee tendinitis, Bueckers has carried the load offensively. She dropped 27 points with six assists in Dallas’ most recent loss at Golden State.
“What we want to show every night is a fight … regardless of what our record is,” Bueckers said.
If Bueckers gets hot again and Dallas limits turnovers, the Wings could finally break their skid.
