The Auburn Tigers will travel to take on the #17 Arkansas Razorbacks in an SEC showdown this weekend. Auburn fell out of the top-25 after last week’s loss to Georgia, while Arkansas is also coming off a defeat.

This game will pit two teams in the second tier of SEC competition against one another. Although a division title is practically out of reach for both, they will be looking to finish inside the top-25.

With the intensity of the Tigers and the scoring of the Razorbacks, this should be an electric matchup. The game will kick off inside Razorback Stadium at noon Eastern this Saturday.

Auburn vs. Arkansas Preview, Stats and Trends

Auburn has gone 4-2 this season, with both of their losses coming against nationally-ranked opposition. They are also yet to notch a victory over a top-25 opponent, placing a ceiling on this otherwise productive squad.

Quarterback Bo Nix leads the team with 1,196 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception this season. Two running backs— Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter— have each gone over 450 yards. Auburn does not gain a ton of yards, though they are still averaging over 33 points per game.

The defense is fast and talented, though it has allowed 32 average points to ranked opponents. Three players have at least three sacks, led by Eku Leota’s four.

Arkansas is coming off of a heartbreaking 52-51 loss to Ole Miss last weekend. They tied the game with a touchdown on an expired clock, only to fail the two-point conversion. This marked their second consecutive loss after they had started 4-0 with wins over two ranked teams.

QB KJ Jefferson has totaled 1,555 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions in his sophomore campaign. Three members of the roster have rushed for over 300 yards, contributing to 1,469 total. Wide receiver Treylon Burks is the true playmaker, however, leading with 29 receptions, 519 yards, and three TDs.

Arkansas’ defense has been inconsistent at best, allowing 44.5 points in losses and 14.5 in wins. Their linebacking corps is the strongest unit, led by Bumper Pool and his 10+ tackles per game. Defensive lineman Tre Williams’ four sacks are a team-high, while two defensive backs have two picks.

Auburn vs. Arkansas Money Line Pick

Although they ended up losing, Arkansas looked the better of the two teams last week. KJ Jefferson showed out against a decent Ole Miss defense and the team scored 51 points.

Auburn, however, has a tremendous run defense. They clog the line of scrimmage and have playmakers in the front-seven that wreak havoc.

The Tigers’ offense, however, does not have the firepower to keep up in a shootout. If they can control the time of possession, they can win, but Arkansas should be favored. Take the Razorbacks to hold serve at home and move to 5-2 this season.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Auburn leads the all-time series 18-11-1.

2. Auburn has beaten Arkansas every year since 2015.

3. Arkansas is 2-2 against ranked teams, while Auburn is 0-2.

Best Bet: #17 Arkansas ML (-175)

Auburn Tigers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Recap OCT 16TH 2021

Bo Nix passed for two touchdowns and put the game away with a 23-yard scoring run to lift visiting Auburn to a 38-23 win over No. 17 Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Nix, who completed 21 of 26 passes for 292 yards, went the distance on a draw to seal Auburn's sixth straight win in the series.

It is the Tigers' longest active streak against any Southeastern Conference foe and their first in seven tries against a ranked opponent.

Auburn (5-2, 2-1) received a game-best 68 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries by Tank Bigsby. Ja'Varrius Johnson and Demetris Robertson caught touchdown passes.

KJ Jefferson completed 21 of 35 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns to Treylon Burks, who had nine catches for a game-high 109 yards.

Jefferson added a team-best 66 yards on 18 carries for Arkansas (4-3, 1-3), which has dropped three in a row.

Nix hit all five passes for 72 yards on the first series before, finally finding Johnson, who slipped behind the secondary for a 39-yard touchdown.

Arkansas' Cam Little nailed a 44-yard field goal to make it 7-3, but he failed wide right from 53 in the second quarter.

Nix led his squad 65 yards in nine plays after the miss. Bigsby finished off the drive with a short 1-yard touchdown run for a 14-3 advantage.

On fourth-and-1 from the Auburn 18, the Tigers' bottled up Raheim Sanders for no gain and a turnover on downs at the 6:21 mark.

After an interception by Montaric Brown, Jefferson ended an 84-yard drive in 2:35 by faking a jump pass and tossing an 11-yard score to Burks for a 14-10 halftime deficit.

The home side grabbed its first lead, 17-14, on Burks' second touchdown. He had a leaping snag of a 30-yard pass from Jefferson on the second half's opening possession.

On the second of consecutive sacks of Jefferson, Derick Hall forced the ball out of the quarterback's hands in the end zone. Fellow defensive lineman Marcus Harris recovered it as the Tigers regained a 21-17 advantage.

In a pivotal two-play sequence, Auburn stuffed Jefferson on a fourth-down try at the Tigers' 29. Nix then went deep and found Robertson for a 71-yard score.

Dominique Johnson found the end zone from 10 yards, but Jefferson's two-point pass fell incomplete to keep Auburn's lead at 28-23.

Anders Carlson's 29-yard field goal put Auburn up by eight with 10:35 remaining.
