Week 4 of the college football season kicks off a bit earlier than normal, as there are some games on Thursday and Friday. The UTEP Miners host the Boise State Broncos in one game on Friday night and these teams have started to become regular opponents.
Boise State comes into this game with a record of 2-1 and they have won two straight games. The Broncos are once again going to be one of the teams to watch in the Mountain West Conference.
UTEP has already played four games this season and they are just 1-3 through the first several weeks. The Miners have been blown out in all three losses, but they did win their lone home game.

The Boise State Broncos are usually known for being a great offensive team, but they have been winning with defense this season. Boise State has allowed just 18.3 points per game and they have been dominant over the last two weeks.
The offense of the Broncos has been playing well also, as they have scored at least 30 points in each of the last two weeks. Quarterback Hank Bachmeier leads the way with 404 passing yards to go along with five touchdown passes.
UTEP is scoring just 14 points per game and they have to find a way to get more yards on the ground. The Miners are picking up just 74 rushing yards per game and that forces the defense to spend way too much time out on the field.
The defense for the Miners has been a problem as well as they are allowing right around 30 points per game. UTEP is not going to be able to keep up with Boise State in a shootout and they have to try to win it with defense and a great rushing attack.

UTEP has never been able to beat Boise State in the past and it’s hard to see this game playing out differently. Boise State has rebounded after a tough loss to begin the season and they come into this game with some momentum.
UTEP just doesn’t have the offense to keep up in this one and it could get out of hand. Playing at home gives the Miners a slight edge, but it won’t be enough to propel them to the win.
