TAXSLAYER GATOR BOWL STORYLINES

1. Tennessee and Indiana would like to add one more victory to make their respectable 2019 seasons a little bit better when the teams meet in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2 in Jacksonville, Fla. Neither team beat a Top 25 opponent during the regular season, but each improved from a year ago when they each finished 5-7. Both teams will be making their first bowl appearance since the 2016 season.

2. The Volunteers, who have won five in a row and six of the last seven games, is on a roll heading into the bowl and should receive a boost from a partisan crowd in Jacksonville. Tennessee managed to recover from losses to Georgia State, BYU, Florida and Georgia in four of its first five games with help from a defense that allowed no more than 20 points during the five-game winning streak. Indiana halted a two-game skid - (both losses to ranked opponents) with a double-overtime victory at rival Purdue in its regular-season finale.

3. The Hoosiers will be losing offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer after he accepted the coaching job at Fresno State, where he was in charge of the offense before coming to Indiana for what proved to be a brief one-year stint. With a reputation for invigorating offenses quickly, DeBoer did just that, taking the Hoosiers from No. 51 to No. 31 in total offense and from No. 87 to No. 41 in scoring offense nationally. And he did that while having to deal with a quarterback change after starter Michael Penix Jr. sustained injuries early in the season and Peyton Ramsey took over without missing a beat.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN. LINE: None

ABOUT INDIANA (8-4): The Hoosiers haven't won nine games in a season since 1967 and to do so they'll need their offense to continue to click and the defense to hold up better than it did in the final three games of the regular season when it gave up an average of 38 points. Ramsey passed for 2,227 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games this season and Indiana's top target is Whop Philyor, whose 69 receptions for 1,001 yards and five touchdowns ranked among the Big Ten leaders. Running back Stevie Scott III has rushed for 845 yards and 10 touchdowns on 178 carries after topping 1,000 yards last year.

ABOUT TENNESSEE (7-5): Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano completed 59.3 percent of his passes for 1,937 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions and Jauan Jennings caught 57 passes for 942 yards and eight touchdowns. The status of Guarantano's center, Brandon Kennedy, is uncertain after he underwent a knee procedure once the regular season ended. Defensively, Tennessee ranked 17th nationally in pass defense, giving up 191.3 yards per game, and only 137.3 in November.

How Our Computer Picks System Works

Our software doesn't simulate sports results like our competitors, we track real bets.

We have exclusive access to a database with 10,000+ real bettors. Our software tracks all of these players in real-time.

Our proprietary algorithms then rank every handicapper in the database based on how well they perform by sport and bet type.

When our system identifies multiple sharps betting on the same outcome, our software automatically publishes the AI pick above.

We have zero control on the picks released by our software. It's simply using algorithms to generate the sharpest sports picks with the most value (+EV).

Why Are There No Computer Picks?

Our AI system generates quality picks with a proven return on investment (ROI).

We believe in quality over quantity.

Some days, there may be zero AI picks, as our algorithms haven't generated any picks with enough value to be released .

We recommend not looking at the volume of bets released by our AI software, but look at the results and profits generated.

If there are no computer picks listed here, we still have daily sports picks from the pros.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Tennessee Volunteers

Eric Gray's 16-yard touchdown run and Brent Cimaglia's subsequent extra point kick with 3:51 left Thursday night capped Tennessee's rally from a 13-point fourth quarter hole as it edged Indiana 23-22 in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.

Gray, who rushed for a game-high 86 yards on 14 carries, set up his score by recovering an onside kick at the Volunteers' 46, three plays after Quavaris Crouch's 1-yard plunge cut their deficit to 22-16.

Tennessee (8-5) finished the season with a six-game winning streak.

The Hoosiers (8-5) had a chance to take the lead, but Logan Justus' 52-yard field goal try with 2:12 left in the game hooked wide right. Their final possession ended at the Volunteers' 45-yard line with 18 seconds left as Peyton Ramsey's fourth down pass under pressure fell short of its intended target.

Ramsey completed 20 of 34 passes for 227 yards and an interception while running for a touchdown that gave Indiana a 10-6 third quarter lead. Teammate Jamar Johnson made it 16-6 63 seconds later with a 63-yard interception return of a Jarrett Guarantano pass.

But Guarantano, who was benched for a series, bounced back to helm the fourth quarter touchdown drives. He finished 18 of 31 for 221 yards with two picks.

Tennessee controlled the first half, even though it played without leading receiver Jauan Jennings, suspended for the half after being ejected from the Volunteers' win Nov. 30 over Vanderbilt.

But the Volunteers failed to score touchdowns on three forays inside the Indiana 20. In fact, their first drive of that sort ended when Guarantano's fourth and goal throw from the 2 for Dominick Wood-Anderson fell incomplete.

Tennessee settled for 23- and 32-yard field goals by Cimaglia in the second quarter. But the Hoosiers' offense took advantage of a short field set up by Micah McFadden's interception late in the half, driving 36 yards to position Justus for a 24-yard field goal as time expired to cut their deficit to 6-3.
