The biggest matchup of the college football week will feature the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines. One of the biggest rivalries in the land, both teams are on the verge of a berth in the playoff. However, a loss on Saturday would doom their hopes.

Michigan leads the all-time series 58-52-6, though OSU has won every matchup in the past eight years. Michigan also has a reputation for blowing big games, and the Buckeyes look pretty menacing.

Saturday’s clash will kick off inside Michigan Stadium at noon Eastern, where the Buckeyes are favored.

Ohio State vs. Michigan Preview

Ohio State is currently the second-ranked team in the nation, having won nine straight games to move to 10-1. They only needed one half to go up 49-0 on #7 Michigan State, their third win over a ranked team. Now, with C.J. Stroud looking like the Heisman favorite, nobody wants to play this team.

Stroud’s stellar campaign has seen him throw for 3,468 yards, 36 touchdowns, and five interceptions. TeVeyon Henderson leads the ground troops with 1,098 yards and 14 touchdowns. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the top receiving threat, boasting 1,132 yards and six scores.

OSU’s defense had only allowed more than 24 points once in the last eight weeks when Purdue scored 31. They give up an average of 19 points per game, and last weekend’s demolition of MSU was a statement.

Michigan, meanwhile, is also 10-1, though they are 7-1 in the Big 10 to OSU’s 8-0. They have only played one ranked team thus far— #8 Michigan State— and lost 37-33. Now, they are getting their biggest test of the year in their home stadium.

Quarterback Cade McNamara has thrown for 2,142 yards, 14 touchdowns, and two interceptions. However, the Wolverines prefer to run the ball with Hassan Haskins’ 1,063 yards and 13 TDs leading the way. Cornelius Johnson is the top target, with 539 yards and three scores to his name.

Michigan’s defense has been stingy, often due to controlling the clock with their running game. They only give up 16.3 points per game, though once again, MSU hung 37 on them. David Ojabo and Aidan Hutchinson have 19 sacks between them, and they will need to step up.

Ohio State vs. Michigan Pick

Ohio State has dominated this rivalry in recent years, and they are likely to continue this trend on Saturday. Michigan has not seen anything like C.J. Stroud this season, and he should feast on the Wolverines’ defense.

Michigan has a nice ground attack, but their path to victory comes in a low-scoring, defensive game. Contending with an offense as explosive as OSU’s, this will not happen.

Put money on the Buckeyes winning, covering the spread, and securing a spot in the college football playoff. This will be another loss in the Jim Harbaugh era, a familiar sight for sore eyes.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Ohio State has won meetings every year since 2011.

2. OSU QB C.J. Stroud is a Heisman frontrunner.

3. Michigan leads the all-time series 58-52-6.

Best Bet: #2 Ohio State -7.5 (-118)

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines Recap NOV 27TH 2021

Hassan Haskins tied a school record with five rushing touchdowns, four in the second half, as No. 5 Michigan ended a decade of futility against Ohio State with a 42-27 victory Saturday against the No. 2 Buckeyes at Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) will play in the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time on Dec. 4 at Indianapolis against either Wisconsin or Iowa.

Haskins scored from the 13 and the 1 in the third quarter for a 28-13 lead as the Wolverines took over while ending an eight-game losing streak to the Buckeyes (10-2, 8-1). It was Michigan's first victory in the series since 2011.

The rivals did not face each other in 2020 because of an altered schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Haskins had 28 carries for 169 yards and Blake Corum ran for 87 yards on six carries. Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara was 13 of 19 for 159 yards and an interception.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was 34 of 49 for 394 yards and two touchdowns but was sacked three times by Michigan's Aidan Hutchinson.

After the Buckeyes pulled to within 28-20 on a TreVeyon Henderson 1-yard TD run with 14:05 remaining, Haskins capped a 66-yard drive with a 2-yard TD to make it 35-20 with 9:14 remaining.

The Buckeyes got a 10-yard TD catch by Henderson with 4:45 left to make it 35-27, but Haskins carried five times for 63 yards on the ensuing drive and delivered the exclamation point with a score from the 4-yard line with 2:17 left.

The Wolverines' 14-13 lead through two quarters was their first halftime lead in the series since a 10-7 advantage in 2016.

After the opening kickoff, Michigan went 75 yards for a 7-0 lead on a 14-yard run by A.J Henning.

Ohio State's Noah Ruggles kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it 7-3 and the Buckeyes took a 10-7 lead on a 25-yard catch by Garrett Wilson early in the second quarter.

Haskins rushed for a 1-yard TD to put the Wolverines ahead 14-10 before Ruggles' 30-yard field goal with nine seconds left in the half.
