One game that is likely to be entertaining is the one set between the Chicago Bears and New York Jets. The Bears are currently 3-8 with a record of 1-5 when traveling this season. Even with a player like Justin Fields under center, they can’t seem to win. This match-up against the New York Jets should be much more favorable to them, however.

The New York Jets will have a different quarterback under center this week. Zach Wilson has lost his starting job in favor of Mike White. The Jets likely won’t have to worry about Bears QB Justin Fields, who’s dealing with a separated shoulder. This could bode well for the Jets, who have a 6-4 record and are third in the AFC East.

Bears vs. Jets Preview, Trends and Stats

If Justin Fields is unable to play, Trevor Siemian will get the start against the Jets. Siemian has stepped into a starting role before and performed well. The good news is he has a lot of talent around him, including running back David Montgomery.

What the Chicago Bears do really well is run the football, averaging 197.9 yards per game. They lead the NFL in this category, but Justin Fields is the leading rusher. They don’t have to rely on him, however, because Montgomery can quickly step into that role.

One of the biggest problems the Bears have is their passing offense, which ranks 32nd in the league. They average just 128.1 passing yards per game, but you shouldn’t expect that under Siemian. Siemian is much more likely to pass the ball than he is to run with it.

The New York Jets come into this game as six-point favorites. We find this a bit odd since they’ll have a backup quarterback under center. Mike White has started just three games in his career, so keep that in mind. He’s not a bad quarterback, but he’s not quite as seasoned as Siemian.

The main reason why the Jets have won so many games is because of their defense. They’re allowing just 18.6 points per game, ranking ninth in the NFL. They also do pretty well against the run, allowing just 109.7 yards per game this season.

Bears vs. Jets Predictions

The New York Jets having a new quarterback under center will definitely affect the team. However, we believe it will positively impact the team's performance this week. We’ve also seen the Jets beat teams like the Green Bay Packers, who have a much better offense than Chicago.

The Chicago Bears have struggled to pass the ball, which will be a big problem here. The Jets defense is surprisingly talented, especially CB Sauce Gardner. Look for the Jets to win this game and cover the six-point spread.

Final Score: 19-10 (Jets)

EXTRA POINTS

Best Bet: Jets -6 (-110) and Under 38.5 (-105)
