The Cincinnati Bengals face off against their first division rival of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers. This could be an incredibly close game depending on which Bengals team shows up. In the first week of the season, we saw a high-powered passing offense that beat the Minnesota Vikings. In the second week, we saw a team stall out on multiple drives and lose to the Chicago Bears. Head Coach Zac Taylor will need to recapture some Week 1 magic.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-1 and have a similar problem as the Bengals. For some reason, the Bengals can’t find any kind of consistency on offense. They had a great game against the Bills but sputtered when they faced the Raiders. It seems like the Steelers will have to evaluate the play calling before facing the Bengals on Sunday.

Bengals vs. Steelers Betting Trends and Preview

After the first week of the NFL, the Bengals looked ready for the next step. However, they regressed in Week 2 with a 20-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. Joe Burrow threw for 2 touchdowns but added 3 interceptions to go along with it. They’ll need to tighten up those kinds of mistakes when they face the Steelers. Pittsburgh loves capitalizing off of turnovers and can do so if Cincinnati gives them the opportunity. Zac Taylor has to sit down with Joe Burrow and talk to him about those turnovers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have to do a better job at finishing games. They allowed the Raiders to dictate the entire game on Sunday, which was their demise. The game finished with a score of 26-17 and the Steelers looked decimated. Najee Harris must play a larger role against the Bengals if Pittsburgh wants to win. Ben Roethlisberger will also need to do better at protecting the football.

Bengals vs. Steelers Picks for NFL Week 3

Bengals 17 - Steelers 24

This is going to be a tough AFC North matchup if the Steelers allow it to be. They have an incredible running back in Najee Harris and they’ll need to use him. The Bengals have a dynamic offense when they aren’t committing turnovers. Control will be the name of the game for both teams here, but only one team can win. More importantly, only one team can cover the spread here.

The Steelers are -4.5 coming into this game, which isn’t a large spread. However, consistency is a big problem, which isn’t great for betting. Pittsburgh will be a team to monitor throughout the season, especially at the sportsbook. We anticipate a lot more preparedness from the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. They might’ve had some inconsistencies in Week 2, but we expect the Steelers to iron it out against the Bengals.

Extra Points

1. These two last faced in 2020, the Bengals won 27-17.

2. CB Trae Waynes is listed as “out” for the game against the Steelers.

3. CB Joe Haden is listed as “out” for the game against the Bengals.

Best Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5 (-112)

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Recap SEP 26TH 2021

Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase hooked up for a pair of touchdowns and the visiting Cincinnati Bengals knocked off the beat-up Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10 at Heinz Field on Sunday.

Burrow threw for 172 yards with just four incompletions and three touchdowns as Cincinnati (2-1) won at Pittsburgh for the first time since 2015. The Bengals, thanks to a win late last season, have now won consecutive games against their division rival for the first time since 2012-13. It was the Bengals' first win by more than 10 points over Pittsburgh (1-2) since 1995.

Joe Mixon added 90 yards rushing on 18 carries for Cincinnati, and Chase finished with four catches for 65 yards. The rookie first-round draft pick has four touchdown catches in his first three NFL games.

Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger played despite a pectoral injury, but was knocked around for the second week in a row. Roethlisberger finished 38 of 58 passing for 318 yards, but was sacked four times and intercepted twice by Cincinnati LB Logan Wilson. The Steelers rushed for just 45 yards.

The Bengals built on a seven-point halftime lead with a dominant third quarter. Evan McPherson hit a 43-yard field goal to make it 17-7. After Wilson picked off Roethlisberger a second time, Burrow found Chase for their second TD connection of the day -- this time for 9 yards -- and Cincinnati led 24-7 with 6:18 left in the third.

Chris Boswell hit a 26-yard field goal to draw the Steelers to within 24-10 with 8:09 to go, but also missed from 42 yards out in the third quarter.

Pittsburgh played without defensive regulars T.J. Watt (groin), Alex Highsmith (groin) and Carlos Davis (knee).

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (knee) was also out, and WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (rib) left the game Sunday in the third quarter with a rib injury and did not return. Rookie center Kendrick Green left the game with a knee injury with four minutes remaining.

Cincinnati took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after Wilson picked off Roethlisberger while he was hit trying to throw. Six plays later, Burrow found Tyler Boyd with a 17-yard touchdown across the middle.

Pittsburgh evened it up after a 15-play, 86-yard scoring drive ate more than half of the second-quarter clock. Roethlisberger flipped a 4-yard touchdown to rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth for a 7-7 tie.

The Bengals needed just seconds to grab the lead back before the half. Burrow dropped in a 34-yard touchdown pass to Chase with 37 seconds left for a 14-7 lead at the break.
