After a tough loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue their road quest. They have a 3-3 record this season after last week’s loss, so at least they’re at .500. Now, heading into week 7, the Buccaneers are looking to earn a win against a division rival.

The Carolina Panthers are 1-5 and at the bottom of the NFC South. Things haven’t gone in their favor this year and the addition of Baker Mayfield seems to have not paid off. Their offense is one of the worst in the league and they’ve begun trade talks for RB Christian McCaffrey. So, what can the Panthers do to win this game at home?

Buccaneers vs. Panthers Preview, Trends and Stats

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to an unexpectedly rough start. Last week, in their 20-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, you could see the frustration building. QB Tom Brady laid into his offensive line and the team seems out of sorts this season.

Averaging 20.2 points per game, the Buccaneers rank 20th in the NFL in this category. The only good news is their defense has held them up so far. Allowing just 17.2 points per game, the Buccaneers rank fifth in the NFL. So, what is the problem plaguing the Buccaneers?

In our opinion, their main problem is their running game. They average just 67.5 rushing yards per game, the worst running offense in the league. If they can establish the running game, they might be able to get their offense on track.

The Carolina Panthers are easily one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. From their offense, or lack thereof, to their defense. Averaging 17.2 points per game isn’t going to work and won’t earn them wins this season.

Perhaps this is the reason they’ve begun fielding calls for Christian McCaffrey. If they can get a few offensive pieces, they might be able to establish their offense. We wouldn’t be surprised if they targeted a quarterback in this trade, either.

Still, they’re going against one of the best defenses in the NFL this week. It doesn’t help that their own defense is allowing 24.3 points per game. In danger of falling to 1-6, the Panthers need a lot of help to come away with a win here.

Buccaneers vs. Panthers Picks

On its surface, this might look like a tough call because of the Buccaneers recent loss. Keep in mind, however, that the Panthers recently lost 24-10 to the Los Angeles Rams. The Panthers allowed 17 points in the second half and the Rams rallied back to win.

Covering 10 points is going to be tough for the Buccaneers, but we’ve seen them do it before. They beat the Dallas Cowboys 19-3 to start the season and followed it up with a 20-10 win over the New Orleans Saints. Taking that into consideration, the Buccaneers should pull off a win and cover the spread.

Final Score: 27-16 (Buccaneers)

1. The total has gone OVER in four of Carolina's last five games against Tampa Bay.

2. The Carolina Panthers are 1-12 against the spread in their last 13 games.

3. In their last six games against the Buccaneers, the Panthers are 1-5 against the spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers Recap OCT 23TH 2022

PJ Walker threw two touchdown passes and the Carolina Panthers shut down Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 21-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Charlotte, N.C.

It was the first Panthers win under interim coach Steve Wilks and it came just three days after the trade of star running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Panthers (2-5) were playing at home for the first time since the firing of coach Matt Rhule.

The Buccaneers (3-4) managed 322 yards of total offense. Brady was 32 of 49 for 290 yards, but Tampa Bay's ground game was held to 46 yards.

Since Brady joined the Buccaneers, it was the first time in five meetings that Carolina topped Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers didn't score until Ryan Succop's 27-yard field goal with 13:38 remaining, cutting the deficit to 14-3.

Carolina running backs D'Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard, the duo tasked to replace McCaffrey's production, made key plays. Foreman gained 118 yards on 15 carries and Hubbard picked up 63 yards on nine carries with a touchdown.

Walker was 16-for-22 for 177 yards with no interceptions.

The Panthers' second touchdown came by going 77 yards in three plays in the third quarter, with a 60-yard run by Foreman coming before Hubbard's 17-yard scoring run.

After Tampa Bay's field goal, the Panthers struck slightly more than four minutes later when Walker connected with tight end Tommy Tremble for a 29-yard scoring play. It was Tremble's first touchdown of the season and the second of his career.

Carolina's first score came on Walker's 20-yard pass play to DJ Moore with 29 seconds left in the first half. That drive accounted for 80 of the Panthers' 152 first-half yards.

Tampa Bay had only 127 first-half yards. The Buccaneers dis outgain the Panthers 79-18 in a scoreless first quarter.

The teams combined for 12 punts - six by each team -- less than 41 minutes into the game. Carolina punted a final time with about a minute to play.
