After a 31-27 win over the Detroit Lions, the Miami Dolphins improved their record to 5-3. Although they had a quick rough patch a few weeks ago, they’ve won two straight games. Prior to their win over the Detroit Lions, they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-10. With Tua Tagovailoa under center again, the Dolphins come in as five-point favorites.

The Chicago Bears lost 49-29 last week to the Dallas Cowboys. With a record of 3-5, the Bears rank second in the NFC North. They recently traded away both Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn, which definitely hurt their defense. Now that we’re at the mid-way point of the season, the Bears need to step it up.

Dolphins vs. Bears Preview, Trends and Stats

The Miami Dolphins have done well on both sides of the ball this season. Although they’ve suffered a few losses, those were due to injuries instead of poor play. As a team, the Dolphins are scoring an average of 22.3 points per game, ranking 16th in the NFL.

The Dolphins excel as a passing offense, averaging 292.5 passing yards per game. They rank third in the NFL in this category, and WR Tyreek Hill has 961 yards this season. They’ll likely try to air it out against the Bears secondary in week 9 as well.

It’s going to be a tough challenge for the Bears to beat the Miami Dolphins. They haven’t done well on defense, especially after last week. Losing 49-29 to the Dallas Cowboys was pretty embarrassing, but it could happen again.

To avoid this, the Bears need to learn how to play better defense, especially as a secondary. Normally, they perform well against the pass, but last week they allowed 250 passing yards. In total, the Cowboys put up 442 yards of total offense against the Bears.

With the addition of Chase Claypool, we’d like to see the Bears pass more. We’re not sure why they don’t, considering Justin Fields has a fairly strong arm. The Bears are the worst team in the league in passing yards per game (126.9). If they don’t pass against the Dolphins, they won’t win.

Dolphins vs. Bears Predictions

The Chicago Bears haven’t shown us anything in the last few weeks that would cause us to take them. Their defense has a ton of holes with the departure of Quinn and Smith. Their offense is awful as well. To us, it’s pretty clear that the best bet in this game are the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins are only five-point favorites here, so they shouldn’t have a hard time covering. This is especially true since they just scored 31 points against the Lions. It might be a close game to start off with, but we think they’ll pull it through and cover.

Final Score: 23-13 (Dolphins)
