As we kick off Week 6 of the NFL the Houston Texans hope for their first win in 5 weeks. After a win over the Jaguars in Week 1, the Texans haven’t had much going for them. In Week 4, they were blown out 40-0 by the Buffalo Bills. They fared much better against the New England Patriots but still fell short. Now, they’ll have to face a division rival on the road.

Although the Indianapolis Colts don’t have the best record, they’re still second in the AFC South. This next game will be a great chance for the Colts to snag a win and increase their standing. Fans are expecting wins from a team that invested a lot of money in Carson Wentz. Their game against the Texans could give the fans exactly what they’re looking for.

Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts Preview (NFL Week 6)

The Houston Texans have a chance to get their second win of the year against the Colts. If they can get some above-average play from Davis Mills, they’ll be in good shape. Of course, that’s much easier said than done, but not unreasonable. The idea is that the Texans need to set Mills up for success by giving him more opportunities.

If they force the pass too early, he’ll inevitably turn the ball over. However, they can’t lean too much on the run otherwise their offense will become stagnant. It’s a dangerous task to balance, but if the Texans play it right they’ve got a shot. It all depends on what game plan the coaches bring to Sunday.

The Colts need a balanced attack, much like the Texans do. However, we think they should focus more on the running game. Jonathan Taylor has proven breakout potential, especially after his 76-yard touchdown against the Ravens. If the Colts want to easily secure this one, a rushing attack is vital.

With more rushing, they’ll also be able to control the clock, something a lot of teams can’t do. We already know the troubles the Texans have, and the Colts should exploit it. If they control the clock, they’ll force the Texans to air it out, which will lead to turnovers. We expect the Colts will follow this game plan and rely heavily on the rush.

Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts Prediction

Texans 10 - Colts 23

The Texans have a lot of learning to do and are having too many offensive struggles. If they still had Tyrod Taylor in the lineup, they’d have a much better chance here. Sure, they played well against the Patriots, but that’s not strong competition. Until Davis Mills has a full understanding of the offense, the Texans are doomed to struggle.

The Colts on the other hand are led by a good coach and good quarterback. As long as they play to their strengths they should win this game. The concerning point is the 10-point spread, which is quite a lot for the Colts to cover. They did recently beat the Dolphins by ten though, so they’re a much safer bet.

Extra Points

1. RB Nyheim Hines could return for the Colts against Houston.

2. The Houston Texans average under 80 yards rushing per game.

3. The Colts have a 7-3 record against the Texans in their last ten games.

Best Bet: Indianapolis Colts -10

Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts Recap OCT 17TH 2021

Carson Wentz threw two touchdown passes, Jonathan Taylor rushed for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts rode big plays to a 31-3 victory over the Houston Texans Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Taylor gained 139 yards and posted both of his touchdowns in the second half as the Colts (2-4) methodically pulled away from the error-prone Texans (1-5), whose losing skid reached five games. Houston committed three turnovers, two of which the Colts converted into scores.

Wentz passed for 223 yards and scoring strikes of 51 yards to Parris Campbell in the first quarter and 28 yards to Mo-Alie Cox with 11:50 left in the third, with the latter score following a Darius Leonard interception of Texans rookie quarterback Davis Mills. It marked the fourth consecutive game that Leonard recorded a takeaway, and the Wentz-to-Alie-Cox connection extended the Indianapolis lead to 17-3.

Campbell departed with a foot injury after his score capped the Colts' second possession. Indianapolis pushed to a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter after Wentz found T.Y. Hilton for a 52-yard gain on a drive that culminated with a 41-yard Michael Badgley field goal.

Badgley signed with the Colts last Wednesday with Rodrigo Blankenship dealing with a hip injury that later landed him on injured reserve. Hilton made his season debut following preseason neck surgery and finished with four receptions for 80 yards, but exited early with a quad injury.

Taylor recorded the third play of 50-plus yards for the Colts with his 83-yard run to the Houston 5-yard line midway through the third. Taylor completed that drive with a 4-yard touchdown run for a 24-3 lead, and later added an 11-yard dash that completed the scoring with 4:47 to play.

It marked the second 100-yard rushing game of the season for Taylor.

Mills passed for 243 yards but tossed a pair of interceptions. Houston running back David Johnson fumbled to set up the second Taylor scoring run. Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter to cap a 13-play, 62-yard drive for the Texans.
