After an uncharacteristic loss to the Houston Texans, the Titans head to New England. Getting their offense off the ground was tough for them last week, and it won’t get easier.

Taking on the Patriots pits them against another tough defense, one that allows just 16.1 points per game. If the Titans want to get their season back on track, a win over the Patriots is mandatory.

A team that is clearly emerging as one of the best in the AFC is the New England Patriots. Over the last five weeks, the Patriots have gone 5-0, an incredible feat. They’ve been playing tough teams, too, and are hosting another tough squad on Sunday.

Led by Bill Belichick, the Patriots' defense will look to shut down the Titans rushing offense. The question is, who’s the best bet?

Titans at Patriots Betting Trends and Preview

The Titans had an unfortunate setback last week when they faced Houston. Forced to throw the ball more in Derrick Henry’s absence, Tannehill threw four interceptions. Even with the four interceptions, the Titans only lost by nine points.

This week, they’ll be without Henry again but will likely have a better understanding of the game plan. At least, we believe they should.

Obviously, there is no replacing Derrick Henry at the running back position. However, they need to find a way to get Adrian Peterson going. He isn’t nearly as strong (anymore) as Henry is, but he’s a capable running back.

The Patriots' defense is a stingy one and won’t allow much scoring. This works out well for the Titans that enjoy running the football and controlling the clock.

New England has won five games in a row and shows no signs of slowing down. Their most recent win was a 25-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Considering they don’t have to worry about Derrick Henry, the Patriots are likely feeling good. Led by Mac Jones, they can focus on their own offense and control the game that way. It all starts with a strong rushing attack.

New England can get the Titans on their heels early by scoring on their first possession. This will force the Titans into a sense of urgency and make them pass the ball more. Last week, we saw what happens when Tannehill is forced to throw the ball under pressure.

If we were able to notice that, just think about all of the things, Bill Belichick noticed. So, what about the spread?

Titans at Patriots Picks

Titans 16 - Patriots 24

Choosing between these two teams is quite interesting. If Derrick Henry was playing, the spread would likely be much different. However, since he’s out, the New England Patriots come in as 5.5-point favorites.

Each team has a 7-4 record against the spread, which is quite impressive. However, losing Derrick Henry has dealt a huge blow to the Tennessee Titans offense.

The Patriots aren’t just 5-0 in their last five games; they’re 5-0 against the spread as well. Adding that, along with the fact that the Titans are missing more than just Henry, we have to take the Patriots.

EXTRA POINTS

1. New England is 6-1 SU in their last seven games when playing at home against Tennessee.

2. In their last ten games, the New England Patriots are 7-3 against the Tennessee Titans.

3. The Patriots' offense averages 27.3 points per game, sixth in the NFL.

Best Bet: New England Patriots -5.5

Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots Recap NOV 28TH 2021

Mac Jones passed for a career-high 310 yards and two touchdowns as the host New England Patriots defeated the Tennessee Titans 36-13 for their sixth straight win on Sunday afternoon in Foxborough, Mass.

The rookie quarterback completed 23 of 32 passes and eclipsed his previous high of 307 yards in New England's 54-13 rout of the New York Jets on Oct. 24. Kendrick Bourne made a pair of TD catches while Jakobi Meyers had a team-high 98 receiving yards for the Patriots (8-4).

The Patriots' league-leading winning streak is their longest since opening the 2019 season with eight straight victories.

Dontrell Hilliard rushed for a career-best 131 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for Tennessee (8-4). The fourth-year rusher was elevated from the practice squad by the injury-depleted Titans ahead of last week's loss to Houston.

D'Onta Foreman also rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries. Ryan Tannehill passed for 93 yards on 11-of-21 passing with one touchdown and an interception for Tennessee.

It was the Titans' second straight loss following a six-game winning streak. Tennessee held the No. 1 seed in the conference coming into the day. New England entered as the third seed behind the Baltimore Ravens (7-3), who host Cleveland on Sunday night.

New England led 16-13 at halftime. Nick Folk's fourth of five field goals had the Patriots on top 19-13 early in the third.

Late in the quarter, Jones connected with Bourne for a 41-yard score down the sideline that was set up by a timely block from Meyers.

Folk added a 52-yarder in the fourth quarter before Damien Harris rushed for a 14-yard touchdown with 4:38 remaining to put the game away.

The Patriots scored on their first possession of the game, with Jones hitting Bourne on a 4-yard fade in the corner of the end zone to make it 7-0 with 7:37 left in the first quarter.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine dove low into the end zone on a 1-yard pass from Tannehill with 14:29 to play in the second quarter, but Randy Bullock missed the extra point.

Three straight Folk field goals put the Patriots up 16-6 before Hilliard broke loose for a 68-yard touchdown run with 37 seconds left before halftime.
