Chicago Fire Outlook
The Fire enter in strong form, winning back-to-back matches over CF Montreal and the New York Red Bulls without conceding a goal. Hugo Cuypers has been lethal in front of goal, netting twice in those two victories and continuing his push toward the Golden Boot race. Chicago’s defense has also improved, with just two goals conceded in their last four league matches.
Key for the Fire will be maintaining their defensive discipline while exploiting LAFC’s road vulnerabilities. They have lost only once in their last five MLS home games, and SeatGeek Stadium could again be a fortress if they strike early.

Los Angeles FC Outlook
LAFC arrive with the buzz of their record-breaking signing of Son Heung-Min from Tottenham Hotspur. While it’s still unclear if the South Korean star will debut due to immigration formalities, his arrival has already energized the squad and fanbase. Until he’s ready, Denis Bouanga remains their primary offensive threat, scoring in four of his last five MLS road outings.
The Black & Gold need to bounce back from their 1-0 home defeat to Portland on July 25. Historically, LAFC have fared well against Eastern Conference opponents, but with a congested playoff race in the West, every point matters.
