Austin FC, Rapids Eye Early Playoff Positioning in Key Western Clash
Playoff races might heat up later in the season, but for Austin FC and the Colorado Rapids, every point matters now. The two Western Conference hopefuls will square off Saturday night in Commerce City, Colorado, with both clubs eager to gain early positioning above the postseason line.
Colorado (6-6-4, 22 points) currently holds eighth place, while Austin (5-7-5, 20 points) sits just two spots behind in 10th. For both sides, this clash marks a pivotal opportunity to either solidify their standing or stop a slide.

Rapids Ready to Capitalize at Home
The Rapids are kicking off a vital three-match homestand and enter Saturday with momentum, having won two of their last three outings.
“We have to take advantage of the next three games, particularly playing here to move up the standings,” said forward Rafael Navarro.
Navarro has been a key contributor, scoring in three of the past four matchups against Austin and tallying five goals this season. Alongside Djordje Mihailovic (seven goals), Colorado’s attack has already combined to outscore Austin’s entire squad.
The Rapids will need to adapt in goal, however, after losing Zack Steffen to a knee injury while training with the U.S. national team. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.
“We did the simple math and see what three points can mean,” said coach Chris Armas. “We want to keep building on what we’ve been doing as of late.”
Austin Aiming to End Skid
While the Rapids are climbing, Austin is desperate to stop the bleeding. They are winless in their past eight MLS matches (0-4-4) and have scored just 11 goals all season — one of the lowest totals in the league.
“You have to build the team throughout the end of the season,” said coach Nico Estevez. “There are teams that start slow… and they arrive to the playoffs, and they arrive to the final, and they win the championship.”
Brandon Vazquez leads Austin with four goals, but the team will be without forward Myrto Uzuni, who is away with the Albanian national team.
If Austin hopes to rebound, this match could serve as a turning point. Bettors eyeing Soccer Picks and Betting Predictions will want to watch whether the visitors can finally break through Colorado’s defense, which is now adapting without its No. 1 keeper.
