Orlando City SC can set a new club record for home wins in a single season when they host CF Montreal on Wednesday.

The Lions (10-5-8, 38 points) are 7-1-4 on their home pitch in 2021, including a 4-0-2 run in their past six matches. Those seven wins currently match Orlando's total in both the 2015 and 2017 campaigns.

The club is coming off a 3-0 loss at Atlanta United on Friday.

"It's one of the most important weeks of the year," midfielder Andres Perea said. "We know that as a team we have to take it step by step. We have to focus on Wednesday's game, play the best way we can at home. We know we have to win."

Orlando is expected to have goalkeeper Pedro Gallese available after representing Peru at the World Cup Qualifiers last week.

Montreal (8-8-7, 31 points) will be in tough against an Orlando side that has shut the club out in each of their past three meetings. Offense has been a struggle for Wilfried Nancy's squad, which has been held to one goal or fewer in seven of their past 10 games.

The club, which is coming off a 1-0 loss to Nashville SC on Saturday that ended a four-game unbeaten streak, has hovered around the seventh-place cut-off for a postseason berth for most of the past two months. They'll kick off a key stretch on Wednesday, with six games over the next 21 days in both MLS and Canadian Championship matches.

"There are a lot of games over few weeks in addition to the Canadian Championship," midfielder Djordje Mihailovic said. "It's an important month for us. If we can solidify our position above the playoff line, that will help us finish out the season."

Winger Lassi Lappalainen and midfielder Ballou Tabla, both sidelined with groin injuries, could be close to returning, Nancy said.

Montreal Impact vs. Orlando City SC

Tesho Akindele scored 15 minutes after halftime, and Orlando City continued a strong showing in the MLS is Back Tournament by defeating the Montreal Impact 1-0 on Saturday night in the Round of 16 near Orlando.

Jhegson Mendez applied pressure on the sequence leading to the goal, which also owed partly to a miscommunication between Montreal defender Rod Fanni and goalkeeper Clement Diop.

After going unbeaten in three group games -- which also counted toward the 2020 regular season -- Orlando City kept its first shutout in any competition since their regular season opener back on Feb. 29. Pedro Gallese was forced into only one save at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Orlando (3-1-2, 11 points this season) will play against the winner of Monday's match between the Seattle Sounders' and LAFC in the quarterfinals next Friday.

The Impact (2-3-1, 7 points) lost for the third time in four matches after sneaking into the round of 16 as a third-place finisher from Group C.

Orlando had the better chances of the opening hour and eventually were rewarded on a sequence that Mendez began when he played a ball from the left touchline to Mauricio Pereyra, who then fed the ball forward to Nani.

With Mendez making a run at Montreal's back line, Nani tried to backheel the ball to him. Fanni retreated and got to the ball before Mendez. He attempted to poke the ball back to Diop in goal, but Diop was in an unexpected position. The ball trickled past, and Akindele was first to it to slot it into an open net.

Montreal had some better moments after going behind, but rarely seriously threatened Gallese's net. Romell Quioto came closest to tying it, heading Jorge Corrales' cross just wide of the right post in the 80th minute.

Playing just miles from their home at Exploria Stadium in downtown Orlando, the Lions had the better moments of the first half, with Mendez normally in the middle of them.

He forced Diop's only save in the 38th minute, then shot just high after receiving Chris Mueller's cross in the 41st minute.

In the 45th minute, Mendez appeared to have put Orlando ahead after a slick combination with Akindele, but Akindele was ruled offside on the play.
