New England Can Win If…
Leonardo Campana and Ignatius Ganago stay in rhythm. Both forwards scored in Columbus, with Ganago providing the game-winner just two games into his return from a quad injury. Campana has also scored in each of New England’s recent victories.
“The continuity is there. I think it’s leading to us playing consistently,” coach Caleb Porter said.
The Revs have won all three previous home meetings with Charlotte by one goal each. If their attack clicks early, they could extend that streak.
Charlotte Can Win If…
Their defense continues its stingy run. The Crown have not conceded a goal since July 19, recording three straight 1-0 wins. Coach Dean Smith credits consistency and messaging as keys to the turnaround.
“I don’t think we got the points that some of our performances deserved … It’s been consistent in the messaging to the players. I think that’s key,” Smith said.
With Kerwin Vargas and others stepping up with clutch goals, Charlotte doesn’t need high-scoring games to keep piling up wins.
