The underdog

Oregon State went 17-16. Backed to win in all 32 priced games, they returned 8.29 units, 26th in Division I. The underdog games made more than all of it, 10.06, and the favorite games gave 1.77 back. As underdogs they won 9 of 19 and covered 11: 78-75 at Arizona State at +600, 90-63 at San Francisco at +330, 72-69 at Loyola Marymount at +215.

The profit held at home and away: 4.92 units over 16 priced home games, 17th in the country, and 5.87 over 11 on the road.

The favorite

Laying points was the opposite. Favored 14 times, the Beavers won eight and covered five; the moneyline lost 1.77. November shows it. Three home wins by two or three points against spreads of 3.5 to 9.5, then three straight losses as favorites at the U.S. Virgin Islands tournament, to Evansville, Iona and Massachusetts, at -290, -185 and -170. November went 3-5 and one cover in eight.

December turned it: 5-2, five covers, 7.21 units, with the +600 win at Arizona State inside it. After December the Beavers were favored only three more times.

West Coast Conference opponents

San Francisco lost all three meetings, the third 78-77 in the conference tournament quarterfinal; the three made 6.5 units. Gonzaga won both, the second in the tournament semifinal, though Oregon State covered there at +20.5. Pacific and Santa Clara won both meetings and covered both.

The total

Nineteen overs, 14 unders, and two of the three games at that Virgin Islands tournament went over. Oregon State covered 16 of 33 overall.
