Betting on American Sports in the UK: Markets and Kickoffs
In Great Britain you can bet on the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and NASCAR with any bookmaker licensed by the Gambling Commission, and the markets are the same ones American books offer: moneyline, spread, total and props. The two things that change are the odds format, which a UK book shows as fractions or decimals, and the kickoff time, which falls in the UK evening or overnight.
Reading American odds as fractions and decimals
An American price and a UK price say the same thing in a different form. A minus number is what you stake to win 100, and a plus number is what 100 wins.
| American | Decimal | Fractional | Implied chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| -200 | 1.50 | 1/2 | 66.7% |
| -110 | 1.91 | 10/11 | 52.4% |
| +100 | 2.00 | evens | 50.0% |
| +150 | 2.50 | 6/4 | 40.0% |
| +300 | 4.00 | 3/1 | 25.0% |
A -110 price, which you will see on many NFL spreads and totals, is 10/11 on a UK coupon. Our guide to how betting odds work goes through the conversion step by step.
NFL kickoff times in the UK
The early Sunday window, 1:00 p.m. Eastern, starts at 6:00 p.m. in the UK for most of the season. The UK clocks go back on October 25, 2026, a week before the US clocks change on November 1, so on Sunday, October 25, those games start at 5:00 p.m. UK time. The Sunday night game that day starts at 8:20 p.m. Eastern, which is 12:20 a.m. in the UK.
Three regular-season games are in London in 2026:
| Date | Game | Stadium | UK kickoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday, October 4 | Indianapolis Colts at Washington Commanders | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | 2:30 p.m. |
| Sunday, October 11 | Philadelphia Eagles at Jacksonville Jaguars | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | 2:30 p.m. |
| Sunday, October 18 | Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars | Wembley Stadium | 2:30 p.m. |
The 2026 schedule also has games in Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Saint-Denis, Madrid, Munich and Mexico City. Our game-by-game NFL predictions are on the NFL predictions hub, and our NFL betting guide covers the markets.
The main markets, sport by sport
- NFL: moneyline, point spread, total points, and player props such as passing yards or an anytime touchdown scorer
- NBA: point spread and total, with quarter and half markets and player props on points, rebounds and assists
- NHL: moneyline, including overtime and the shootout, the puck line, usually 1.5 goals, and the total goals
- MLB: moneyline, the run line, usually 1.5 runs, the total runs, and first-five-innings markets
- NASCAR: race winner, top 3, top 5 and top 10 finishes, head-to-head driver matchups and the season championship
A UK “match result” market in hockey can be the result after 60 minutes, not including overtime, which is a three-way bet with the draw. Check which one you are betting before you place it. Our prop betting guide covers player props across all five sports.
Licensing and ID in Great Britain
The Gambling Commission licenses and regulates gambling businesses in Great Britain, and it keeps a public register you can search to check a bookmaker. Its rules say that all online gambling businesses must ask you to prove your age and identity before you gamble, and a customer cannot place a bet until they have been verified.
A book that has already verified you should not hold your winnings back by asking for ID it could have asked for earlier. The Commission’s guidance says a business that delays a withdrawal for insufficient ID may be in breach of its licence.
