UEFA Nations League Predictions
The UEFA Nations League is the competition that replaced most international friendlies. Europe’s 54 national associations are sorted into four tiers and play each other in groups, for points, on a fixed calendar. A meaningless summer exhibition became a table with something at stake.
This edition has not started. Every one of the 54 teams sits on nought points from nought games, and the eight fixtures on 24 September 2026 are matchday one. Our predictions for all eight are below.

Every fixture above is a home team hosting a visitor from its own group. The tier tells you the standard: League A is the strongest 16 nations in Europe, League D the smallest.
How the four tiers work
Teams are graded into League A, B, C and D. A, B and C are each split into four groups of four. League D is smaller, with two groups of three, because there are 54 associations rather than a round 64. That is why Malta, Andorra and Gibraltar play a three-team group while Germany and the Netherlands play a four.
Because the tiers are graded, a nation’s opponents change from edition to edition rather than staying fixed the way a domestic league does. Portugal being drawn with Wales, Norway and Denmark tells you all four are currently rated in the top 16.
