The Angels have won four of their last five, powered by Jo Adell’s hot bat, while the Royals have dropped three straight and are clinging to wild-card hopes.

Angels Can Win If…

Jo Adell keeps mashing. The 24-year-old outfielder has been on a tear, batting .367 with 8 homers and 18 RBIs over his last 16 games, including a go-ahead three-run blast Wednesday. With 33 home runs and 90 RBIs on the year, Adell’s breakout has carried Los Angeles.

The Angels’ lineup ranks 4th in MLB in homers (194), giving them a puncher’s chance against any pitching staff. Zach Neto (25 HR) adds additional power support.

Veteran Kyle Hendricks (6-9, 4.89 ERA) gets the start. He rebounded with a strong outing against Houston last week, tossing six innings of one-run ball. If Hendricks can induce weak contact and keep his walk rate down, the Angels have a strong chance to secure their first sweep in Kansas City since 2012.

Royals Can Win If…

Noah Cameron looks like his first-half self. The rookie lefty (7-6, 2.92 ERA) is back on the mound after extended rest. While he’s hit a bit of a wall lately (4.03 ERA last seven starts), Cameron has been one of the most consistent young arms in the AL.

Kansas City’s offense has sputtered, totaling just 12 runs over the past four games. Bobby Witt Jr. is just 1-for-10 since his 18-game hitting streak ended, and the Royals desperately need him to ignite the lineup.

With Cameron leading a staff that ranks 3rd in ERA (3.66), if the Royals can manufacture timely hits from Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez, they can snap their skid.

Projected Score: Royals 5, Angels 3
Total Lean: Under 9.0 (-102)

Kansas City has the clear pitching edge with Cameron on the mound and a staff ERA among the league’s best. The Angels’ recent power surge makes them dangerous, but if Cameron is sharp, expect the Royals to finally end their skid.
