The Boston Red Sox have flipped the script in one of baseball’s most storied rivalries. After a 12-1 rout on Saturday, Boston is now 8-1 against the New York Yankees this season and has outscored them 48-22 since June.
Trevor Story has been a nightmare for New York pitchers, hitting .351 in the season series with two homers and 11 RBIs. Saturday, he drove in three runs early and added another hit during Boston’s seven-run ninth inning. Rookie Carlos Narvaez also chipped in three hits, including a two-run homer, giving Boston its most runs scored at Yankee Stadium in more than a decade.
The Red Sox’s current eight-game winning streak over the Yankees is their longest since 2020–21. A win Sunday would mark their first nine-game run in the rivalry since 2009.
Yankees frustrated but fighting
