After Lopsided Loss to Wolves, Thunder Vow to Respond in Game 4

The sting of a 42-point defeat is hard to ignore — and the Oklahoma City Thunder certainly aren’t trying to. Coming off a humbling 143-101 loss in Game 3, MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are eager to bounce back and prove it was just a bump in the road, not a sign of collapse.

On Monday night, Oklahoma City will get that chance in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis.

“We got punched in the mouth (in Game 3). Next game, we’re either going to get back up or not. … We have a decision to make, for sure.”
— Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder

Wolves Bounce Back in Dominant Fashion

The Timberwolves responded to their 0-2 series deficit with a resounding win at home. Anthony Edwards continues to set the tone, leading Minnesota with 26.7 points per game through three games. Julius Randle (19.3 ppg) and Jaden McDaniels (13.0 ppg) have also contributed key scoring efforts.

“We know who we are, so just be ourselves.”
— Rudy Gobert, Timberwolves

Another standout in Game 3 was rookie Terrence Shannon Jr., who delivered 15 points off the bench with aggressive drives to the rim. He’s likely to see expanded minutes moving forward.

“You’re definitely going to see him more.”
— Chris Finch, Timberwolves Coach

Thunder’s Identity On the Line

For Oklahoma City, Game 4 is now about resilience. After Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 31 and 38 points in the first two games, he struggled in Game 3 with just 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting. He’ll need support from Jalen Williams (19.3 ppg) and Chet Holmgren (15.7 ppg) if the Thunder want to steal another win on the road.

“We have to do the exact same thing they did (after Game 2).”
— Chet Holmgren, Thunder

Despite still holding a 2-1 series lead, the pressure is squarely on Oklahoma City to regroup — and respond — before heading back home for Game 5.
