With all the problems the New York Jets have faced in the passing game this season, the last thing they need is a trip to Seattle to deal with the Seahawks and their rotation of strong defensive backs. The Seahawks have not lost at home and will be looking to take some momentum into their bye week by knocking off the Jets. Mark Sanchez and company are averaging only 207.6 yards through the air and have had to spend their bye week dealing with the devastation of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey.

New York has dropped four of its last five games and Sanchez is completing only 52.9 percent of his passes, leading to some fans calling for backup Tim Tebow. Seattle is ranked even lower in passing offense but makes up for it on defense and in the running game, where Marshawn Lynch has gone over 100 yards in each of the last three games.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Seahawks -6.5, O/U 38.5.

Hurricane Sandy has left some Jets players and staffers without power for over a week and the practice facility has been on a generator. New York certainly could have used some extra time to work on its offense, which has dropped to 27th in the NFL in yardage. The Jets were embarrassed by the Miami Dolphins 30-9 at home in Week 8, turning the ball over twice and surrendering a touchdown on special teams. The defense, which was the team’s calling card in previous seasons, has slipped noticeably as well. Darrelle Revis’ season-ending injury has not been as devastating to the secondary as imagined but the rushing defense has been weak, allowing 141.4 yards on the ground. The Jets will play five of their final eight games on the road, including a trip to St. Louis following Seattle.

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS (5-4): Seattle’s home-field advantage is keeping it in the playoff hunt in the NFC. The Seahawks are 4-0 at CenturyLink Field, including tight wins over the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers. After dropping two in a row on the road, Seattle came back to “The Link” last weekend and put together its best offensive performance of the campaign in a 30-20 victory over Minnesota. Lynch ran for 124 yards and a score while rookie quarterback Russell Wilson passed for three touchdowns and did not turn the ball over. While the results against New England and especially Green Bay were close, there was no denying the ability of the Seahawks’ secondary to shut down top quarterbacks. They held Christian Ponder to 63 yards last week.

1. Jets coach Rex Ryan was voted the most overrated head coach in the NFL in a midseason poll of players conducted by The Sporting News.

2. Seattle LB K.J. Wright (concussion) and G James Carpenter (concussion) are both questionable for Sunday.

3. New York LB Bart Scott (toe) was a limited participant at practice on Wednesday while DT Kendrick Ellis (knee) and RB Joe McKnight (ankle) both sat out.
