The 20th-ranked Florida Gators will march into Tiger Stadium for a matchup with LSU this Saturday. Both teams are looking to reclaim past glory in the Southeastern Conference, though their work is cut out for them.

Florida comes in on the back of a shutout victory, while the Tigers have dropped two straight to ranked opponents. Both teams will be desperate to set their course on fighting for the titles and putting recent misfortunes behind them.

The game will kick off at noon Eastern this Saturday with the Gators playing the role as sizable favorites. Neither team has a winning record against the spread, however, making this an interesting prospect for bettors.

#20 Florida vs. LSU Preview, Trends and Stats

Florida’s 4-2 start has come without a ranked win and with losses to #1 Alabama and Kentucky. That being said, they pushed the Tide to their limit, narrowly falling 31-29. They are also averaging over 33 points per game and can score with anyone.

Quarterback Emory Jones leads the team in passing and rushing, managing 1,144 yards passing and 479 rushing. He has scored 11 total touchdowns, though he has thrown seven interceptions and been picked in five of six games. Backup QB Anthony Richardson is actually the team’s second-leading rusher, posting 311 yards and two scores.

The defense loves to play aggressively downhill, already accumulating 20 sacks in the season. Lineback Brenton Cox Jr. and defensive lineman Zachary Carter are responsible for 11.5 of these, making them players to watch.

On the other side, LSU has had a remarkable fall off from their 2019 national championship-winning season. At 3-3 with an 0-2 record against the top-25, they have a lot to prove against the Gators this weekend.

QB Max Johnson leads the squad with 1,730 yards, 17 touchdowns, and four touchdowns. The Tigers are completely one-dimensional, however, and are under 500 yards rushing on the season. Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte is the impact offensive player, hauling in 509 yards and nine TDs this season.

The defense has been disappointing, allowing over 32 points per game to Power Five opponents. Defensive end BJ Ojulari is the player to watch as the sophomore from Georgia has already reached five sacks.

Florida vs. LSU Predictions (NCAAF Week 7)

As is the case with all rivalry games, this contest should be hard-fought and explosive. Florida is the favorite for a reason, though the Tigers have a QB capable of bringing them back if needed.

As tough as it is to play at LSU, though, Florida should be able to come out with a sizable victory Saturday. They are utterly dominant on the ground, and although they turn the ball over, they are 4-2 for a reason.

The Tigers’ best hope is to try to establish their run, which they have struggled to do. If they cannot, this game could get lopsided early. Take the Gators to win by two possessions as LSU falls under .500 and Florida reaches 5-2.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Florida leads the all-time series 33-31-3.

2. Florida dominates the run, while LSU struggles to.

3. LSU has beaten Florida in each of the past two seasons.

Best Bet: Florida -11 (-110)
