A big win over the Steelers has pushed the Chargers to 6-4 for the season. Before that, they had a rough few games, but have worked out the kinks. They’ll need another solid game when they face off against the Broncos on Sunday. One thing we’d like to see is another huge offensive game from Justin Herbert and the Chargers. They only come in as 2.5-point favorites here.

The Denver Broncos started the season off with a bang but has since been relatively lackluster. Over their last seven games, the Denver Broncos have gone 2-5, dropping them to third in the AFC West. With the rest of their season hanging in the balance, the Broncos desperately need a win here. Our question is, who will be the best team against the spread on Sunday?

Chargers at Broncos Preview, Trends and Stats

The Chargers’ offense can be one of the best in the AFC. Unfortunately, their defense hasn’t been holding up their side of the bargain recently. Last week, the Chargers nearly lost the game to the Steelers while giving up 37 points. This is something that can’t happen if the Chargers want to be taken seriously this season. These performances will cost them huge games.

The good news for the Chargers is that they aren’t facing a great offense. The Broncos have struggled severely on offense recently. If they can’t stop the Broncos’ offense, the Chargers have even more problems than we originally thought. There is a chance, however, that the Chargers will be missing Asante Samuel Jr. on Sunday.

Denver’s offense is currently in shambles and doesn’t show any signs of bouncing back. They played incredibly well against the Cowboys but dropped the ball against the Eagles. Hopefully, for their sake, they bring the same kind of offensive intensity as they did against Dallas this week. If not, they could find themselves in a similar situation as they did last week.

One of the things they can do to help themselves is establish the run early. This could give them a better chance later in the game to pass the ball downfield. The Chargers defense allows 145 rushing yards per game, last in the NFL. The Denver Broncos definitely need to take advantage of this on Sunday.

Chargers at Broncos Money Line Pick

Chargers 20 - Broncos 24

This game for the Broncos hinges on them getting the rushing game going early. If they can do that, the Broncos will be in good shape. However, it doesn’t answer the question of how they’ll perform against the Chargers’ offense. Denver does well against the pass, allowing just 218.30 passing yards per game.

Taking that into account, we believe that the Broncos will pull this one off. We know it might seem unrealistic, but look how they performed against the Cowboys. If they could stop that offense, we have faith they can stop the Chargers.

EXTRA POINTS

1. In their last ten games, the Broncos have gone 6-4 against the Chargers.

2. The Chargers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games.

3. The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Denver's last 10 games.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos

Drew Lock passed for 248 yards and three touchdowns, the last one to K.J.Hamler coming as time expired Sunday as the host Denver Broncos rallied to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-30.

DaeSean Hamilton had four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown, Albert Okwuegbunam had another TD reception, and Phillip Lindsay ran for 83 yards and a score for Denver (3-4). Lock was 26-for-41 passing, as the Broncos came back from a 24-3 third-quarter deficit.

Justin Herbert finished 29-for-43 passing for 278 yards and three touchdowns for the Chargers (2-5), with Mike Williams catching five passes for 99 yards and a score and Keenan Allen eight receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Justin Jackson rushed for 89 of L.A.'s 210 yards on the ground, Gabe Nabers also had a TD catch, and Michael Badgley kicked three field goals for the Chargers, who held leads of 24-3, 27-17, and 30-24 before Denver's final drive.

After the Chargers got Badgley's 33-yard third field goal with 2:30 remaining for the six-point lead, Lock drove Denver 81 yards to win it.

With 7 seconds remaining, and the Broncos at the L.A. 18-yard line, Chargers defensive back Brandon Facyson was called for pass interference in the back of the end zone, giving the Denver the ball at the 1-yard line. That left 1 second on the clock and Lock found Hamler to give the Broncos to victory.

Denver's comeback started with Lindsay's 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, making it 24-10. Two possessions later Lock found Okwuegbunam in the back of the end zone to get Denver within 24-17 with 11:42 left in the game.

Badgley hit a 47-yard field goal to make it a 10-point game with 8:02 left but just 32 seconds later, Lock connected with Hamilton on a 40-yard TD pass to pull the Broncos within 27-24.

It all was so different in the first half.

The Chargers struck twice in the final two minutes of the second quarter to pull ahead. Allen had a nine-yard TD catch with 1:48 left in the half, and after a Denver three-and-out Herbert hit Nabers for a two-yard touchdown and a 14-3 halftime lead.

Herbert then found Williams down the right sideline for a 24-yard TD and a 21-3 lead and Badgley kicked a 52-yard field goal to make it a 21-point lead midway through the third.
